Description of the Workplace
The postdoctoral researcher will be employed at the Department of Technical Logistics, within the Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. We are a team of approximately 15 employees. Here, we teach and conduct research in the field of logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM). Our research covers various aspects of strategy, design, planning and control, measurement, and development of supply chains. Current research areas include supply security and risk management, global and sustainable supply chains, trade logistics, automation technology for material handling, as well as procurement and supplier development. This position is part of the newly established interdisciplinary research center CenSSUR (Center for Security of Supply Research). Other relevant centers for collaboration include FORCE (Center for Food Resilience and Competitiveness), Campus Totalförsvar, and REAL (Centre for Retail and Logistics).
Specific Subject Description
Logistics and Supply Chain Management with a focus on public-private collaboration for supply security.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the postdoctoral researcher is to conduct research within the subject area. Teaching is included in the duties, corresponding to one-fifth of the working time. As part of the employment, there is an opportunity to attend a three-week university pedagogical course. The purpose of the appointment is to develop independence as a researcher and create conditions for further career advancement.
You will be responsible for studying and comparing how different collaboration mechanisms for supply security have developed within and between the supply chains of different sectors, specifically how various actors are involved and how focus areas have changed. You will develop theoretical frameworks, be responsible for data collection and analysis, and co-author scientific articles in collaboration with other researchers. You will likely collect data through interviews within the Swedish preparedness system, as well as through surveys. Data collection and project meetings may involve travel within Sweden. You will collaborate with both Swedish public authorities and private companies. The research will be presented at international conferences (1-2 per year). The position also involves teaching in our international MSc program in Logistics and SCM, supervising bachelor's/master's theses, and participating in the supervision of PhD students.
Qualifications
To be eligible for appointment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have completed a PhD, or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD, within the subject area of the appointment. Proof that the qualification requirement is met must be submitted no later than the time when the employment decision is made. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their degree no more than three years before the application deadline. If there are special reasons, the PhD may have been completed earlier.
Other Requirements:
- PhD in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
- Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge and experience from the research field of Supply Chain Management
- Documented ability to conduct qualitative studies (e.g., case study analyses) and/or social network analyses
- Ability to conduct research independently and systematically in a collaborative environment
- Collaborative skills and drive
Evaluation Criteria
This is a merit-based appointment primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in the career, and the assessment of applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. Special emphasis will be placed on scientific ability within the subject area.
When appointing a postdoctoral researcher, the following shall form the basis for assessment:
- Good ability to develop and conduct high-quality research.
- Pedagogical ability.
Other Merits:
- Ability to collect and interpret oral and written data from Swedish authorities and private actors in preparedness sectors
- Knowledge and experience from focused preparedness sectors: food, transport, energy
- Knowledge and experience of research within Supply Chain Risk Management
- Knowledge and experience of research within Critical Infrastructure Resilience
- Knowledge of collaboration theories
- Ability to perform social network analysis, statistical analysis of surveys, or modeling of critical infrastructure
- Experience of crisis or preparedness work at local, regional, national, or international level
- Documented ability to publish in well-established scientific journals within the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Experience of teaching at advanced level within Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Experience of supervising theses within Logistics and Supply Chain Management

Other Information
The employment is fixed-term for 2 years and is full-time. Start date October 1st or as agreed. The position is located in Lund. The employment is fixed-term according to the collective agreement, “Agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher”. The selection process will begin in August.
