Job Description

As a National Advisor, you are the Grants Office expert resource for funding from Swedish organizations, authorities such as the Swedish Research Council, Forte, VINNOVA, as well as foundation funding. You support clinical researchers from interpreting calls for proposals and idea development to finalizing applications, with a focus on improving the quality and precision of texts and budgets. You have a deep understanding of how the Swedish Research Council's application process works, what Forte values in clinical research, and can serve as a sounding board on how an application should be structured for projects targeting Cancerfonden's calls. You are an active advisor who can challenge and strengthen the researcher's argumentation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • providing individual advisory support to research groups prior to applications to national, state research funders, as well as subject-specific foundations relevant to clinical research
  • interpreting and communicating funders' assessment criteria, priorities, and formal requirements to research groups
  • reviewing application texts for scientific rigor, logic, and relevance to the call's requirements
  • supporting research groups in selecting the appropriate grant type and funder based on the project phase and the researchers' merit profiles
  • collaborating with colleagues during the application process to coordinate applications and budget planning
  • coordinating internal processes, including internal review and deadline management for applications
  • organizing educational initiatives and writing workshops prior to major national calls (e.g., at the Swedish Research Council, Forte, Cancerfonden)
  • monitoring the call calendar and informing research groups of upcoming opportunities
  • systematizing feedback from funders (comments from assessors, grade justifications) and feeding lessons learned back to research groups
  • collaborating within the research funding ecosystem.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • a university degree in life sciences such as medicine, health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or natural sciences, or another equivalent education that we consider relevant for the position
  • documented experience with national application processes – as an applicant, reviewer, or administrative support
  • a good understanding of relevant calls for clinical research, or innovation-oriented calls from VINNOVA
  • the ability to write and provide feedback on scientific texts in Swedish and English
  • experience working in a service-oriented manner towards multiple parallel contacts and meeting deadlines

It is meritorious if you have:

  • a doctoral degree, preferably with documented application experience as a principal investigator or co-investigator from the aforementioned state funders
  • experience from a Grants Office, Research Service, or similar function
  • experience with foundation funding within medical research (Hjärt-Lungfonden, Cancerfonden, Barncancerfonden, etc.)
  • experience as a reviewer for a research funder

The researcher's needs are at the center of your work, and with a genuine service focus and good communication skills, you build trust throughout the entire application process. You have strong analytical skills and can quickly identify areas for improvement in an application. Through constructive and concrete feedback, you help the researcher strengthen their project without taking over their voice or ideas.

The role requires handling multiple processes in parallel, which demands structure, good planning skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality results even as deadlines approach. Training, leading workshops, and sharing knowledge with others come naturally to you, and you enjoy building long-term relationships with the research groups you support over time.

A strong driving force is contributing to increased success for clinical research in Region Skåne in the competition for research funds. You understand that this is built on patience, high competence, and trust-based collaborations. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We warmly welcome your application!

We plan to conduct interviews during weeks 38-39.

Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Start date by agreement.
