UKÄ (The Swedish Higher Education Authority) contributes to strengthening Swedish higher education and Sweden as a knowledge society. We review higher education, analyze and monitor development within the sector, and safeguard students' legal security. The Higher Education Appeals Board is an agency that reviews appeals against certain decisions from primarily universities and colleges. The Swedish National Agency for Higher Education (UKÄ) serves as the host authority for the Board and is responsible for handling administrative, preparatory, and processing tasks on behalf of the Board.

Main Responsibilities

As a lawyer at the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, your main tasks will be to process and prepare cases for the Higher Education Appeals Board. The Board handles a large number of appeals concerning university admissions, as well as appeals regarding the recognition of prior learning and study leave. Your work will involve conducting legal research, drafting proposed decisions, and recording minutes from meetings.

Your Profile

Requirements for the Position

  • A law degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience in similar roles at a court or other government agency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Swedish.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

About the Department

The legal department consists of a chief lawyer, 14 lawyers, and one administrator. The department works with supervision of universities and colleges, processes cases for the Higher Education Appeals Board and the Higher Education Disciplinary Board, and handles other legal matters within UKÄ's operations.

About the Employment

The recruitment covers two full-time permanent positions, starting with a six-month probationary period. Employment can begin as soon as possible. We offer individual salary setting.
