At the Swedish Inspectorate of Work and Care (IVO), you will have the opportunity to develop state supervision and licensing procedures – work that contributes to safer and more secure care and social services. We are now looking for inspectors with legal expertise for our office in Stockholm.

About the Job

As an inspector, you will investigate and assess the professional conduct of licensed healthcare personnel based on current regulations.

Your main tasks as an inspector will include handling cases concerning licensed healthcare personnel. Cases may involve issues such as:

• professional incompetence
• committing a serious criminal offense, whether within or outside professional practice, that is likely to affect trust in the individual
• failure to comply with regulations that are of significant importance to patient safety
• other circumstances that may render the individual unsuitable for professional practice

You will serve as the lead case handler in some cases and as a co-handler in others, depending on the scope and nature of the cases. You will work in close collaboration with other inspectors from various professions, as well as with supervising dentists and supervising physicians.

We expect you to contribute to cross-professional assessments and joint decision-making. You will prepare and make decisions in cases, and as needed, prepare notifications to the Health and Social Care Accountability Authority (HSAN).

The positions are permanent with a six-month probationary period, based in Stockholm.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• a law degree (Bachelor of Laws)
• at least two years of relevant and current work experience
• excellent communication skills in Swedish, both written and verbal

The role demands objectivity, high integrity, sound judgment, and analytical skills to make well-founded and legally secure assessments.

To succeed in this role, you need strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute your professional perspective in cross-professional contexts. You must feel confident in your competence and be able to work independently, driving cases forward with clear structure and accountability. We continuously develop our methods and working practices, meaning you must be adaptable to new conditions.

During the recruitment process, we will place significant emphasis on your personal qualities.

The following qualifications are considered meritorious:

• experience from the court system, such as clerkship or work as a legal clerk
• experience in supervisory work or similar roles
• experience in decision-making or decision-preparation roles
• experience working within IVO’s areas of supervision, specifically healthcare
