Are you a lawyer interested in meaningful, varied, and exciting work in an organization that creates social benefit? We are now looking for two or more experienced lawyers to handle cases and make decisions regarding various types of permits within the healthcare sector, and to support the rest of the agency with various legal matters.

About the position

As a lawyer at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), you contribute to ensuring the agency's operations are legally secure. You will work with handling cases and making decisions regarding various types of permits within the healthcare sector and in cases according to the Act (2024:238) on the determination of gender in certain cases. The role involves being a case handler and presenter in some cases and a decision-maker in others. The position may also include providing legal support to the National Board of Health and Welfare's Council for Certain Legal, Social and Medical Questions (the Legal Council) in its case handling.

You will also work with qualified legal advice and investigation in administrative law matters for other parts of the agency. Duties may include drafting regulations, responding to consultations, handling questions regarding the release of documents, participating in the agency's work with government assignments, and conducting training for the agency's employees.

Unit for Agency Law 1 supports the agency within various operational legal areas such as administrative law and issues concerning public access and secrecy, as well as issues regarding data protection, register, and statistics legislation. The unit provides legal support in connection with the agency's various processing of personal data, in connection with the handling of cases involving individual parties and appeals against the agency's decisions, and responds to consultations within the unit's area of operation. The unit also drafts regulations and general advice regarding, among other things, the social data registers managed by the agency. Approximately 15 people work in the unit, and we share joint responsibility for our work.

About you

We are looking for someone who has

  • a law degree or a Candidate of Law degree
  • completed probationary service as a district court clerk or other experience that the agency considers equivalent
  • several years of current work experience in legal work at an administrative authority or court
  • current experience working with the handling of cases initiated by an individual party (exercise of authority)
  • very good knowledge of administrative law and experience working with administrative legal issues
  • good knowledge of the regulations regarding public documents and public access and secrecy, as well as experience working with secrecy assessments and the release of public documents
  • very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

It is meritorious if you have

  • experience working with healthcare legal or social legal issues
  • experience working in an advisory role
  • experience with drafting regulations at an agency or from the Chancellery of the Prime Minister
  • good knowledge of regulations regarding data protection issues.

Good to know

The positions are one or two permanent full-time positions starting with a six-month probationary period and a fixed-term employment of approximately one year, all with immediate start. You will be based at the office on Västerbroplan in Stockholm, but have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days a week. In the spring of 2027, the agency will move to newly renovated premises in Solna Strand. Your job title will be Lawyer and your placement is on the Legal Department, Unit for Agency Law 1.
