Unit Manager for the Economics Unit – Lead us into the future with new technology and strong finance
Are you ready to take the next step into a role where your expertise in economics makes a real difference every day? Then we have the perfect opportunity for you! Our current Unit Manager in the Economics Unit is moving on to another position, which is why we are now looking for a successor.
The Economics Unit is part of the Finance Department and has a total of nine employees, including one Unit Manager. The main tasks and responsibilities of the Economics Unit include accounting and annual financial statements, budgeting and forecasting, financial follow-up and analysis, ongoing invoicing and handling of incoming supplier invoices, support to operations in all matters concerning finance, as well as the development and improvement of financial processes.
The Finance Department is the hub for all finance and procurement-related issues and consists of specialists in finance and procurement. Together, the department forms a central resource that guides and supports all administrations and their managers in handling and developing finance and procurement issues at both strategic and operational levels.
In this position, we offer the possibility of remote work to contribute to a better balance between work and leisure. Job Description
In the role of Unit Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the Economics Unit's operations and budget, as well as personnel and work environment responsibility for eight employees. You will be part of the department's management group and report directly to the Department Manager.
The role includes both leading and direct participation in operational accounting, reporting, follow-up, and analysis work. This means overall responsibility for planning and steering the ongoing financial work, as well as direct operational responsibility for certain parts of it.
The municipality is also facing the procurement and implementation of a new financial system, where the Unit Manager has a central coordinating role in the project.
Your duties include, among other things:
- plan, prioritize, and follow up on the Economics Unit's work based on the municipality's goals and needs
- actively participate in the ongoing financial work with accounting, annual financial statements, reporting, as well as financial follow-up and analysis
- ensure quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance in financial processes
- be a qualified support to municipal leadership, managers, and operations in financial matters
- drive development and efficiency improvements in labor law, processes, and routines
- lead the Economics Unit's work with procurement, introduction, and implementation of a new financial system
- collaborate with internal and external actors and contribute to the municipality's overall development work.
Qualifications
- university education in economics or other education that can be assessed as relevant for the position
- previous experience in a leadership position
If you also have the following, this is considered meritorious:
- good knowledge of accounting, financial management, and budget processes
- previous experience with procurement and implementation of a new financial system
- previous experience working within municipal operations or another politically governed organization
- knowledge of labor law, work environment legislation, and experience of union collaboration and negotiations.

Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-10-12 or according to agreement.
