Arvika Municipality is looking for a Principal for Upper Secondary and Adult Education who wants to lead, coordinate, and develop upper secondary and adult education in the municipality. This role is central to creating a long-term sustainable, attractive, and high-quality educational operation – for students, employees, and society at large.
About the Role
As the Principal for Upper Secondary and Adult Education, you are responsible for upper secondary school and adult education with approximately 165 employees and an annual budget of approx. 170 million SEK. You report to the Head of Schools and are part of the School and Education Management Group.
The operation faces several important development issues, including:
- the need for increased coordination between upper secondary school and adult education
- financial balance and long-term sustainability
- strengthened collaboration with working life, other municipalities, and internal actors
- further strengthening the attractiveness of the upper secondary school – both for students and employees
You lead through your principals and have overall responsibility for economy, personnel, working environment, and operational development.
Key Collaboration Areas
In this role, you collaborate with:
- School and Education Management Group
- Political arenas (committees, etc.)
- Trade union organizations (department councils, negotiations)
- Primary school, Social Services, as well as AMI (labor market and integration) and other internal actors.
- External actors linked to competence supply and working life.
You are also an important ambassador for Arvika Upper Secondary School and Adult Education, both locally and regionally.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who are a clear, secure, and collaborative leader with the ability to combine structure and analysis with development drive and creativity. You have good financial awareness and can communicate the operation's needs and prerequisites in a pedagogical way, even in political contexts.
You express yourself very well in speech and writing and are accustomed to preparing background materials, analyses, and decision-making documents.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have:
- a university education with a pedagogical focus or other education that the employer deems relevant
- experience of management roles within schools and/or education
- a good understanding of municipal organization and political steering
- experience of budget responsibility and financial follow-up
Merits:
- previous assignments as principal of upper secondary school and/or head of adult education/school principal
- experience as a principal in upper secondary school or adult education and ready for the next step
- experience of major change and development work
