The County Administrative Board is a key coordinating link at the interface between the state, region, municipality, business sector, and individuals. The County Administrative Board works to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county, while taking regional conditions and prerequisites into account. This includes balancing important public interests and resolving goal conflicts. The County Administrative Board has a broad and multifaceted mandate regarding both tasks and subject areas. The authority's main tasks include permit assessment, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination across many societal sectors. Approximately 230 people work here, and our head is the County Governor.

Description

The Environmental Department consists of the units Environmental Protection, Water Protection, Environmental Analysis, and Nature Conservation. The Rural Affairs Department consists of the units Animal Welfare and Wildlife, Agriculture, and Regional Development. The Environmental Department focuses primarily on nature and the environment, while the Rural Affairs Department works, among other things, with food and agricultural issues, rural development, and regional growth. Both departments work with permit assessment, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within various societal sectors.

Responsibilities

As Department Head, you lead and develop the work within the department's areas of responsibility in close collaboration with the unit managers. You are part of the authority's management group and are responsible for quality assurance prior to decisions, including balancing different public interests. In the management group, you contribute to good conditions for effective cross-sectoral work, development, and collaboration internally and externally. Active and result-oriented cooperation with other department heads, as well as coaching and developing the unit managers within the department, are important tasks.

As Department Head, you report to the Deputy County Governor.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Appropriate academic education
  • Appropriate management or leadership experience
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish

Meritorious qualifications include:

  • Experience with permit or supervision matters
  • Experience in public administration
  • Experience in broad and complex operations
  • Experience from one or more of the current subject areas
  • Category B driver's license

Conditions

The position is permanent and may start with a probationary period.

You must be a Swedish citizen as the employment involves placement in a security classification. A requirement for employment is a passed security investigation with register check.

The security investigation will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act.
