Are you a dedicated youth leader who wants to make a difference for children and young people?

We are now looking for a new colleague who wants to help develop our operations at Vängåvan, a unique meeting place for children, youth, and families on Stora Essingen.

About Us

Vängåvan's operations consist of a playground, after-school care, and a youth club, run as a parent cooperative by the association "Friends of Vängåvan." We are located in the middle of a lush playground on Stora Essingen with climbing frames, park settings, and a splash pool. You can easily reach us by bus and the cross-tram (tvärbana).

We run after-school activities for students in grades 4–6 and currently have about 200 enrolled children. In addition to after-school care, we run a youth club one to two evenings a week, have an evening-open playground once a week, and keep the playground open every weekday. We collaborate closely with local schools, associations, and businesses to create a safe, fun, and developmental leisure time for children and young people.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who is confident, positive, and energetic, and who is passionate about the development of children and young people.

As a youth leader, you will among other things:

• Plan and conduct activities, games, and projects for children and young people.
• Lead sports, creative, and group activities.
• Work based on Vängåvan's values to create a safe and inclusive operation.
• Participate in planning, documentation, follow-up, and evaluation.
• Build good relationships with children, young people, guardians, colleagues, and partners.
• Contribute to developing the operation together with the work team.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being active with the children and gladly participates in everything from ball games and play to crafts, creative activities, and board games. We are looking for someone who:

• Has documented experience working with children and young people.
• Is a confident and clear leader.
• Has a pedagogical approach and works with low affective intensity (calmly and constructively).
• Is responsible, flexible, and solution-oriented.
• Enjoys leading both small and large groups.
• Has good verbal and written skills in Swedish.
• Can handle simple cooking, kitchen routines, and hygiene routines.

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of French.
• Crafts, sewing, or other creative work.
• Experience with kitchen work.
• Interest in sports, play, and movement.
• Experience in pedagogical or social work.
• Experience with summer camp activities.
• Ongoing or completed pedagogical education.
• Additional language skills besides Swedish.

About the Position

The position is 60% with good opportunities for additional working hours.

The work is scheduled five days a week and consists mainly of afternoon shifts, plus 0–2 morning shifts per week. Working hours vary between 09:00 and 20:00.

There is an opportunity for increased hours through:

• Substitute work in our evening activities.
• Extra morning shifts.
• Work during weekend-open operations and local rentals.

The evening activities consist of a youth club 1–2 evenings per week and an evening-open playground for students in grades 4–6.

Start date is by agreement, earliest September 1st. Salary according to agreement.
