We are looking for a Detention Officer for the detention center in Märsta.
At a detention unit, individuals who have received a deportation or removal order and need to be available for enforcement are placed. A person may also be detained if their right to stay in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit, and operations run 24/7. The work is based on current legislation where legal certainty, dignity, and safety are paramount.

What does a Detention Officer do?
The role includes duties such as care, supervision, searching, and security. You conduct interviews during check-in and check-out, as well as to inform about decisions. You identify and handle any special needs of the detainees and organize activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure a calm, safe, and secure environment at the detention center by performing security checks and searches. Participation in transports, responsibility for food handling, and some administrative tasks are also part of the job. The work can be physically demanding to some extent.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and has good collaboration skills, is sensitive, and resolves conflicts in a constructive manner. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and the professional.
Since the operations are dynamic, you need to be secure and stable even under stress or in pressured situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on the right things. You thrive with variation and adapt easily, changing your viewpoint and attitude when circumstances change.
In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
You who apply have
- Upper secondary education or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways
- Experience of work requiring good service and professional conduct
- Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
- Good knowledge of English
It is meritorious if you have
- Experience of working with people in vulnerable situations
- Experience of social work, such as work with care, mental health, addiction, or similar
- Experience of working in an environment with high security requirements
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
Information
Employment type: Fixed-term special employment until September 30, 2026.
Working hours: Scheduled working hours day/evening/night, weekend work also occurs
Location: Märsta
Start date: As agreed
We apply individual salary setting within a salary range of approximately 28,500 - 33,000 SEK/month.
