Teacher in Social Studies (SO) at Middle School or High School Level

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also executes closed youth care. We operate youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Gudhemsgården transitioned to youth care in November 2024. We will move into newly built school facilities for the spring term of 2027. SiS Youth Home Gudhemsgården receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminal backgrounds, and substance abuse issues. The school organization consists of approximately 12 employees who work closely together and collaborate with other staff at the institution.

Job Description

As a teacher here, you will teach in small groups with extra adaptations based on each student's needs. Almost all teaching takes place within the framework of the introduction program. We have our students for varying periods, and it is crucial to maintain a positive attitude and belief in every individual's developmental potential. The students' varied experiences and results from previous schooling mean that teaching can be both motivating and knowledge-transferring. There may also be a need to provide guidance in other subjects.

You will plan, conduct, follow up on, and document the teaching. You will collaborate with and receive support from other professional groups such as school counselors (SYV), unit managers, treatment secretaries, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists. Tasks related to security, special authorities, and the physical work environment may occur.

Qualifications

• Teaching certification (Lärarlegitimation).
• Qualification to teach in Social Studies (SO) subjects.

Preferred Qualifications

You should be motivated by the opportunity to teach and build trusting pedagogical relationships in smaller groups consisting of students with psychosocial problems and criminal backgrounds. It is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high, realistic expectations, as well as motivate and guide the student toward their goals.

We prefer that you are unpretentious, flexible, able to set and maintain boundaries respectfully, and have faith that all students can find a path to education and work.

Previous experience working within introduction programs or in special education groups is particularly advantageous.

Employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.

Interviews will be held from week 32.
