Your role

As a teaching assistant, your role is linked to year 2 and involves creating a safe and inspiring learning environment where all students feel seen and respected. You work to ensure that every student develops their full potential by supporting their path towards achieving learning goals as well as their development into democratic citizens. You build positive and sustainable relationships by creating a safe and open atmosphere where students feel respected and heard. Through active listening, providing feedback, and being a clear adult role model, you contribute to strengthening students' self-esteem and their ability to collaborate and communicate with each other. You promote learning outcomes and development for all students by ensuring that you clarify and adapt the teacher's instruction to meet the different needs and prerequisites of the students, so they receive the help and support they need to achieve the knowledge goals specified in the curriculum. You are an active part of preventing and handling conflicts and problems inside and outside the classroom by encouraging cooperation, empathy, and responsibility. You support students in developing their social skills and ability to handle both successes and setbacks in a constructive manner. You collaborate with colleagues to create a consistent thread in the teaching.

Who you are

We are looking for you who are a good relationship builder with great patience and flexibility. To meet the students' needs, it is required that you can make adjustments and handle unexpected situations. In the classroom, you offer support in understanding the context and clarifying the teacher's instruction with a clear structure where everyone knows what is expected of them. You are confident in your role in student-oriented work and are engaged.

In Åmål Municipality, we are working on a major development project regarding language and knowledge-enhancing working methods, which will permeate our competence development during the coming school year. All educators participate in the project, and we would be pleased if you, as a new employee, have a strong interest in working with language and competence-enhancing methods.

Formal competency requirements

  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • The employment presupposes that you have a category B driving license
  • Digital identification with BankID

Employment

Fixed-term employment 100% from 2026-08-03 to 2027-06-30 with a possible option for extension. Start date 2026-08-03 or as agreed. The position of teaching assistant is currently located at Nya Rösparksskolan within the Department of Culture and Education, which is organized directly under the Board of Culture and Education. The direct manager is the principal, Kent Jönsson.

The position will be filled subject to necessary decisions being made.
