Social Worker (SoL) at the Authority Department, Alingsås Municipality

Welcome to Alingsås! As an employee in our municipality, you have all the opportunities to contribute to the development of operations and your workplace. With nearly 4,000 employees, we are large enough to drive change and small enough for everyone to have an impact and room for their ideas. There is room for innovators here. Together, we create Alingsås!

At the Health and Care Administration, we are currently about 1,400 employees who, with our combined knowledge and professional experience, provide care and healthcare to the residents of Alingsås in their homes or in our residential facilities. We meet our users, relatives, and colleagues with openness, engagement, and respect, and together we work to create a good workplace for everyone.

The Authority Department is divided into two units. One group handles cases according to the Social Services Act, primarily targeting the elderly. The other group handles cases according to the Support and Service Act for Certain Persons with Functional Impairments (LSS) and cases according to the Social Services Act (SoL). Here, we have over 25 social workers, one contact person case manager, two handling applications for housing adaptation grants, one social administrator, three senior social workers, and two unit managers.

We are now looking for a social worker who handles cases according to SoL, with primary tasks including follow-up of short-term decisions and coordination meetings with hospitals.

Why choose to work with us?

When you choose to work with us, you get:

  • A structured introduction and close support in your assignment
  • Methodological support from a senior social worker
  • Opportunities to influence and develop working methods
  • Flexible working arrangements with the possibility of remote work
  • Competence development based on your needs
  • A warm and knowledgeable work group

In addition, we offer wellness benefits, holiday exchange, extra vacation days from age 40, parental benefit supplements, and bicycle benefits.

Job Responsibilities

As a social worker within SoL for individuals over 65, you work with our aging population, investigating, assessing, and making decisions according to SoL. You will primarily work with follow-up of short-term decisions and hold coordination meetings with hospitals in the part of the unit called the planning team.

Following up on short-term decisions means that you investigate, assess, and make decisions about interventions for the individual to enable a return home or to special housing. You collaborate with several professions in team cooperation, such as assistant nurses, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists, among others.

Having coordination meetings with the hospital mainly involves investigating, assessing, and making decisions about interventions so that the individual can return to their own home or to a short-term placement for further training.

The work as a social worker in the authority unit is varied and requires both structure and the ability to meet people in different life situations. In your work, you will follow up on approved interventions, contact the individual, relatives, proxies, and collaborating partners. You ensure legal certainty in case handling and good quality. To thrive with us, we believe you have a genuine commitment to the target group and a positive view of people. You are interested in legislation in the area and have analytical thinking and can structure your work in a varied daily routine. The position requires that you can work both individually and in a group, and have the ability to collaborate with other parties both within and outside the administration.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Social work degree or other relevant education
  • Category B driver's license
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing

Merits:

  • Experience in authority enforcement or work within SoL and/or LSS.

Personal qualities:

As a person, you are positive, see opportunities, and find solutions in your work. You enjoy supporting others and find it easy to work in teams. You are receptive and inclusive and can create conditions for good development where new ideas and proposals can be developed. You are constructive and can communicate in a clear and pedagogical way. We consider it very important to have good customer service and that you have the ability to be solidary, inspire, and be a role model for others.

Being able to switch between tasks, whether it involves primary tasks such as short-term follow-up and coordination meetings in the team or other tasks in the unit, is very important. Your ability to see the big picture when it comes to executing tasks in the unit as a whole is crucial for our success. In some periods it is quieter, and in others there is much more to do depending on the flow in the care chain. Therefore, it is important that you have the ability to relate to this variation and that you can handle work peaks that come with the job.
