The Department of Children and Youth is responsible for preschools, after-school centers, comprehensive schools, and adapted comprehensive schools (grades F-9). In total, we are approximately 1,100 people working to provide good services for our children and students today and prepare them for the future. As staff in our department, you create conditions together with us for children's and students' desire to learn and their opportunities to succeed.

The Central Unit for Child and Student Health is a support for the municipality's preschools and comprehensive schools. As an employee at the unit, you will be part of the local student health team led by the principal but will have your closest manager in the central organization. The unit's development work has a clear focus on health-promoting and preventive child and student health work, and we strive for interprofessionalism in the teams.

Job Description

Your duties as a school counselor in our central child and student health unit will involve contributing psychosocial competence to the interprofessional student health work in the units where you are part of the student health team. You work on behalf of the principal based on current school legislation in collaboration with other school staff, students, and guardians. As a counselor, you collaborate with other student health professions in daily work to create conditions for students' desire to learn and opportunities to succeed.

You contribute to interventions in social and psychosocial work at the individual, group, and organizational levels. Your duties include, for example, conversations, supervision, and consultation for individual educators and work teams. You collaborate with authorities such as social services and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) and, together with other student health professions, ensure that students in need of special support have their needs comprehensively mapped and assessed. As a counselor, you specifically contribute to ensuring that students in need of special support for their social and emotional development receive adequate interventions within the school.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Social Work Degree (Social Worker)

Meritorious:

  • You have experience working as a school counselor or other experience working with children and young people, as well as knowledge of relevant regulatory documents and legislation.

Personal qualities:

We are looking for someone who can work independently, has good collaboration skills, and is highly committed to promoting and preventive work at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You also have a strong interest in children's and students' learning, recognize the importance of collaboration with all school staff, and enjoy working in a cross-professional team.

You work long-term on sustainable relationships between students and adults to benefit students' social development. You work to strengthen students' sense of security and motivation. You are confident in contact with students, parents, and authorities and have good verbal and written communication skills.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have good digital competence, are accustomed to working in documentation systems, and have very good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.

  • August 12, 11:00-12:00
  • August 13, 8:30-9:30
  • August 13, 14:00-15:00

Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: By agreement.
