The Accounting Unit is responsible for the Swedish Migration Agency's financial accounting and economic administrative processes. We ensure that the agency's accounting is correct, reliable, and complies with current regulations. The unit also provides support and advice to the business on economic-related matters and is responsible for the management and development of the agency's economic and e-commerce systems. We continuously work on developing routines, processes, and ways of working to create efficient and quality-assured economic flows. The unit consists of approximately 20 employees with broad competence within accounting, economic administration, and system management.
Job Description
As a Senior Economist at the Accounting Unit, you work together with your colleagues on the Swedish Migration Agency's accounting from an agency-wide perspective.
In the role, you will among other things:
- work with bookkeeping, reconciliations, and quality assurance of the accounting
- participate in monthly and annual closing as well as work with the financial parts of the annual report
- ensure that accounting and economic administrative routines follow laws, regulations, and internal rules
- conduct qualified analyses, investigations, and economic follow-ups
- contribute to the development and improvement of economic processes, routines, and system support
- give advice and support to the business on economic issues
- produce guidelines, instructions, and training materials
- participate in internal control work as well as reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Depending on your competence and experience, the work may also include system-related issues within the economic area.

Furthermore, you work carefully and are well aware of goals and quality standards, placing great importance on meeting them.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.
You who apply have:
- an academic education in economics, preferably with a focus on accounting, or other education combined with current and relevant experience.
- several years of current experience in qualified economic work
- experience working with closing and annual reports
- good knowledge within accounting and economic administration
- good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
- good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience of system administration in the economic system, Unit4 ERP
- experience of system administration in Visma Proceedo or other e-commerce systems
- experience of accounting and economic administration within government or other public operations
- experience of economic work with a system or process development focus
