About the Role

We are looking for someone who is new to the workforce and wants to explore how new technology can contribute to smarter ways of working, increased efficiency, and better welfare. This is a fixed-term project position for 1–2 people until December 31, 2026, located within Digitalization, IT, and Medical Technology (DIM), in a unit driving digital development and transformation in a complex public sector environment.

Region Dalarna faces significant long-term challenges where increased needs must be met with limited resources. To succeed, we need to develop new ways of working and seize the opportunities presented by digital technology.

Here, you will have the opportunity to work closely with technology, development, and innovation in a forward-looking unit focused on digital development. You will combine technical skills, business understanding, and modern AI-supported working methods in a role that contributes to Region Dalarna's continued digital development. You will become part of the transformation work in Region Dalarna and contribute to testing new solutions that can create value within the organization. This role is ideal for those who want a strong start in their career while helping to shape future working methods in the public sector.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have a clear mandate to deliver within one of the following areas: automation, exploratory AI development, and developing structures for how AI agents can be managed and used sustainably within the organization.

The tasks may consist of one or more of the following parts, depending on the assignment's focus and priorities within DIM:

• Drive and deliver an assignment within automation, where you map processes, identify moments that can be automated, and develop solutions that can be implemented and used within the organization.
• Drive and deliver an assignment within exploratory AI development, where you test new working methods and development approaches, such as AI-assisted development and "vibe coding".
• Contribute to developing structures and working methods for the management of AI agents, including aspects such as usage, responsibility, lifecycle, and further development.
• Build simpler prototypes, tools, or automated workflows that can be tested, evaluated, and further developed within DIM.
• Work closely with colleagues in digitalization, IT, and medical technology, and collaborate with operations as needed.
• Document results, contribute to learning, and create materials on how solutions can be scaled further within the organization.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone who has completed education in systems science or equivalent. The role is particularly aimed at recent graduates or those at the beginning of their career who wish to use their skills in a role that makes a difference.
• You have a good ability to turn ideas into practical solutions and contribute to development work.
• You are curious about new technology and want to explore how AI, automation, and digital tools can be used in public sector operations.
• You can communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Merits: It is an advantage if you have experience with one or more of the following tools/technologies and areas:

• GitHub Copilot
• VS Code
• Lovable
• UiPath
• Azure/Power Platform
• .NET/C# and/or R/Python
• Process mapping or prototype development within studies, internships, or personal projects
• Interest and/or experience with modern development methods where AI is used as support throughout the entire development process, from idea and coding to testing, documentation, and improvement
• Experience collaborating with Region Dalarna through projects, internships, or similar contexts
