Did you grow up with a parent who has a substance abuse issue, a mental illness, or who subjected you to violence? We are now looking for you to work as the local coordinator for our coaching program at Maskrosbarn in Skåne!
About Maskrosbarn
Maskrosbarn is a children's rights organization that supports children who have parents with substance abuse issues, mental illness, or who are subjected to violence. Over the years, we have met thousands of children. On their behalf, Maskrosbarn also conducts knowledge-raising work to help more people see and identify children suffering at home, as well as advocacy work to improve laws, processes, and systems that affect children's opportunities for a better life. We collaborate with municipalities, regions, authorities, and other actors throughout Sweden. We have approximately 40 employees in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö, along with around 250 engaged volunteers across the country.
Five people work at the Malmö office, and we are a tight-knit team working closely together, meeting young people from all over Skåne. In addition to the full-time office staff, we have volunteers and paid personnel working in the support services. The coordinator for the coaching program works at the Stockholm office and will support and supervise you in your work. The Operations Manager in Malmö will be your direct supervisor.
About the Role
The Coaching Program is an individual support service for young people, approved through social services assistance. Maskrosbarn has run the Coaching Program since 2013, and the intervention has been used by approximately 40 municipalities and districts.
The coach and the young person meet once a week for up to three years, alternating between activities and working with methodological materials. The support is available in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. Maskrosbarn handles the entire process, from recruiting coaches, training, matching, and ongoing supervision of the coaches.
The role of Local Coordinator for the Coaching Program involves a broad range of tasks, including administrative work, liaison with social services, and supervising coaches. You will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising coaches in Skåne, as well as working to sell/present the program to social services. You will conduct introductory meetings with young people and maintain close contact with their social workers. The role does not involve direct supportive work with the young people, but rather works through the coaches.
Working in a small office means that all employees need to be unpretentious and willing to step in where needed. There are certain shared tasks that are distributed among everyone working at the office.
Who are you?
We believe you are warm, unpretentious, self-motivated, and thrive working in a flexible manner. You are ready to take the step from direct support work to helping others support young people. You easily build relationships and trust with young people and colleagues. You are administratively strong, good at managing multiple parallel processes, and enjoy switching between complex and simpler tasks. We believe you want to work within civil society and be part of a generous and engaged workplace.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a degree in Social Work (Social Work degree)
- Has at least two years of recent work experience from social services, specifically in intake and/or assessment of young people
- Has knowledge of agreements, interventions, and processes within social services
- Has experience writing and handling reports of suspicion (orosanmälningar)
- Has good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written
- Identifies as a "dandelion child" (maskrosbarn); meaning you grew up with a parent who had a substance abuse issue, mental illness, or was subjected to violence by a parent. This is important as we use identification as part of our methodology.
- It is meritorious if you have experience supervising colleagues and/or having conversations with young people
This is a permanent, full-time position with immediate start or by agreement. Probationary employment may apply.
Application
Please submit your application via our recruitment system by August 2, 2026.
We ask that you attach a CV and a cover letter answering the following questions:
- Why are you specifically suited for this position?
- What relevant experience do you have for this role?
- Why do you identify as a "dandelion child"?
Interview 1 will take place in week 32, August 6-7, at Maskrosbarn's office in Malmö. If you proceed in the process, Interview 2 will be conducted during week 35.
A police record extract (for work with children in activities other than school and childcare) is required upon employment.
If you have any questions, please contact Elisavet Johansson Tziampazis, Operations Manager, [email protected], 076-721 02 74, or Selina Eriksson, Local Coordinator for the Coaching Program, [email protected].
