Are you a lawyer with a strong interest in Swedish foreign and security policy? Do you have experience working for a government agency? Are you also a good writer and thrive in a role with many contact points? Then this position is for you!
We are now looking for a case handler to be placed on the Unit for Dual-Use Products (PDA).
Job Description
As a case handler, you will work with various types of questions and permit cases related to the control of dual-use products as well as international sanctions. The role is broad and involves alternating between routine cases and cases requiring deeper analysis. You will independently prepare both simpler and more in-depth written decision support documents and present cases at the unit or management level. You will have contacts with both other authorities and companies, both nationally and internationally, and will collaborate closely with colleagues within the agency. The role also includes representing ISP externally, for example at training sessions or meetings with other authorities, the Government Offices, or industry. Business travel may occur.
Qualifications
- Law degree.
- Current experience in case handling at a government agency or work within the Government Offices.
- Experience in preparing written decision support documents and presenting cases orally.
- Very good ability to express yourself, both orally and in writing, in both Swedish and English.
Meritorious Qualifications
- Experience of international work, for example within or towards the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the EU, the UN, or another international organization.
- Knowledge of and/or work with international sanctions.
- Experience with issues related to export control.
- Completed notarial service.
- Experience in permit processing.
- Knowledge of additional languages.
Personal Attributes
To thrive in this role, we believe you are an analytical person who can absorb and process large amounts of information and quickly familiarize yourself with new subject areas and tasks. You are self-initiating, meticulous, work in a structured manner, and can switch between tasks with shorter deadlines and more complex investigations that require more time. You have good collaboration skills and are communicative while maintaining high integrity. To enjoy the role, you should have a solid interest in foreign, security, and defense policy.
The Unit
The PDA Unit is organized into two groups – the Permit Group and the Expert Support Group. The Permit Group is responsible for all ongoing assessment regarding export permits and advance rulings. The Expert Support Group is responsible for ISP's work with international sanctions, technical investigations, and ISP's international cooperation in the field of export control (shared with the Permit Group). Which group you are placed in is determined based on your competence and experience as well as current needs at the unit. However, the unit's resources can be allocated flexibly if the case situation requires it. The colleagues on the PDA Unit are a professional group with a big heart and enormous knowledge. Here you will quickly become part of the team and a significant addition to the unit.
