About the workplace

Svea Court of Appeal is the country's largest court of appeal with approximately 480 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm.

The court's main task is to review cases and matters appealed from the district courts within its jurisdiction. The Court of Appeal also serves as the sole and final instance for decisions from all of the country's rent tribunals. The court consists of nine judicial divisions, of which seven are general divisions handling criminal and civil cases, and two special divisions. One of the special divisions is Division 2, where the Patent and Market Court of Appeal is also established as a specialized court. In addition to the Patent and Market Court of Appeal's legal areas, Division 2 is particularly focused on rental law, arbitration law, and particularly extensive dispositive civil cases. The division also handles general dispositive civil cases and so-called other cases.

Job Description

Svea Court of Appeal is seeking one or more lawyers for positions as case handlers (föredragande) on Division 2. The division handles all cases appealed from the country's rent tribunals. In the Patent and Market Court of Appeal established on the division, all cases appealed from the Patent and Market Court are handled. The Patent and Market Courts handle virtually all cases and matters in the country within the legal areas of intellectual property law, marketing law, and competition law. Additionally, the division handles cases regarding the invalidity of arbitration awards and challenges to arbitration awards, the court's all major general dispositive civil cases, other general dispositive civil cases, as well as so-called other cases and matters.

The current employment is particularly focused on the handling of rental cases and dispositive civil cases, including cases regarding the invalidity of arbitration awards and challenges to arbitration awards. However, the handling of certain other types of cases is also included in the duties.

The duties consist of preparing cases, conducting legal research, presenting cases for decision, and drafting proposals for judgments or decisions. The work also includes serving as a court reporter during hearings.

Qualifications

You must have a law degree and be eligible for the judicial office (notariemeriterad) (attach any certificates to your application). This means that you uphold democratic values and the public sector values that govern the operations of Sweden's courts. The public sector values contain the six principles of democracy, legality, objectivity, freedom of opinion formation, respect, as well as efficiency and service.
