About the Conscription Affairs Detail

The Conscription Affairs Detail at the Training Section is part of the Training Division of the Defence Staff at the Implementation Unit. The Training Division consists of approximately 80 employees. The division directs, plans, develops, monitors, and coordinates the agency's personnel and competence supply, for both civilian and military personnel.

The focus of the division lies on officer and conscript training, the agency's recruitment and competence development work, as well as competence supply analysis. The Defence Staff as a whole is responsible for coordinating strategic planning and military-strategic command.

The Conscription Affairs Detail primarily works with support, coordination, and development, mainly within the interpretation and application of regulations covering and governing conscripts undergoing basic or refresher training in the Swedish Armed Forces.

The work aims to create a uniform, legally secure, and efficient application throughout the agency.

About the Position

The military disciplinary system is a central part of the Swedish Armed Forces' exercise of authority and aims to maintain good order, military discipline, and security during training and service.

A well-functioning disciplinary system strengthens trust in the agency's mission and contributes to increasing operational military capability.

As a staff officer specializing in legal services, you work on developing, coordinating, and directing the Swedish Armed Forces' practical application of the Act (1994:1811) on disciplinary responsibility within the total defence, etc.

Additionally, as an employee in the section, you are part of the regular processing of cases within the Defence Staff.

Examples of tasks:

  • Provide qualified support and advice to the armed forces branches, corresponding organizational units, and units regarding questions concerning the disciplinary system for conscripts
  • Develop, manage, and quality-assure governing documents, method support, and routines
  • Monitor and analyze the application of regulations and identify areas for development
  • Plan and conduct central training within legal services and disciplinary responsibility
  • Prepare cases and decision materials for higher management
  • Collaborate with the Defence Staff's legal division, auditors, the Duty and Review Authority, the Duty Council, as well as other internal and external actors

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Professional officer education/specialist officer education
  • Experience and knowledge in interpreting and applying regulations
  • Experience in staff work

Meritorious

  • Experience in processing disciplinary cases according to the Act (1994:1811) on disciplinary responsibility within the total defence, etc.
  • Experience working in another government agency
  • Experience leading conscript training

Other

Employment type: Fixed-term contract of six months with possibility of extension.

Date of commencement: As soon as possible, latest 2026-09-01

The position is military. Employment level: Full-time

The General Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the General Headquarters consists of the Defence Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the General Headquarters' Staff Division and independent supervision units. Employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed.
