The Department of Environmental Sciences (ACES) is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University. Approximately 170 employees work here in research, education, and administration. Our research is of high international standard and focuses on current environmental and sustainability challenges.

Here, you will become part of a dynamic and international work environment with engaged colleagues and close collaboration between operational support and core activities.

We are now looking for an HR Officer who wants to work broadly with HR issues in a research-oriented environment. The role is independent and offers good opportunities to influence and develop the work.

Responsibilities

As an HR Officer, you work close to the operations and provide qualified support to managers and employees in personnel matters. You are responsible for HR administration at two of the department's four units and play a key role in ensuring quality in personnel processes.

Your main areas of responsibility:

  • Support and Advisory
    • Provide qualified support to managers and employees in personnel and payroll-related matters.
    • Act as the contact person for the central HR department.
  • HR Administration
    • Process cases in the HR system (e.g., employment, leave, sick leave, and payroll data).
    • Monitor fixed-term employment and track probationary periods according to the Employment Protection Act (LAS).
    • Update the personnel catalog and registers.
  • Payroll and System Work
    • Ensure the quality of monthly payroll runs in collaboration with the central payroll function.
  • Recruitment and Processes
    • Participate in recruitment processes.
    • Plan and coordinate the onboarding of new employees and handle offboarding procedures.
  • Development and Governance
    • Implement and inform about guidelines and regulations.
    • Develop and update routines and information materials.

Other administrative tasks may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Education as an HR specialist, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Several years of experience in independent work with personnel and payroll administration, preferably with experience advising managers.
  • Good proficiency with HR systems and digital working methods.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

The following is meritorious:

  • Experience in similar tasks, preferably from universities, higher education institutions, or other public sector operations.
  • Knowledge of public sector regulations and labor law processes.
  • Experience working with Primula and Varbi.

The official language of the authority is Swedish, but much communication takes place in English. You must therefore have very good ability to communicate labor law concepts and conditions in English, both in writing and orally.

About the Position

The position is permanent, at 80-100% of full-time, with a six-month probationary period. We offer a flexible role with the possibility of remote work up to two days per week. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
