to apply for the job
At the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen, FI), you will work on issues that are crucial for maintaining confidence in the financial market. As a lawyer in Market Supervision, you will contribute to ensuring transparency and combating market abuse in an environment characterized by rapid change and high complexity.
Here, you will have the opportunity to combine law, analysis, and market understanding in a role that has significance both nationally and within the EU.
About the job
As a lawyer in Market Supervision, you work with the supervision of entities and regulations related to the securities market. The assignment involves reviewing together with colleagues that the market operates in an open, fair, and efficient manner.
You are responsible for processing and driving supervisory cases within the framework of both planned and risk-based supervision. The position has a specific focus on transparency-related issues. This includes, among other things, investigating whether reporting obligations under current regulations are complied with, for example regarding shareholding notifications and insider lists. You also work on issues concerning how listed companies handle inside information and their ongoing information disclosure.
In the role, you may also handle cases related to suspected market abuse, such as insider trading and market manipulation.
In addition to routine case handling, you participate in preventive and forward-looking supervisory work. This may involve dialogue with market participants, supervisory meetings, analysis of market trends, and communication efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance.
You work in close collaboration with colleagues within FI and have recurring contacts with other authorities, both in Sweden and within the EU. Dialogue with trading venues, banks, and other actors is a natural part of the work. The role thus gives you a broad and concrete understanding of how the securities market functions in practice.
The area is constantly evolving. New trading patterns, technical solutions, and regulatory changes mean that supervisory work is becoming increasingly risk-based and forward-looking. You are therefore expected to contribute to identifying risks, analyzing developments, and adapting supervision to new conditions.
Your education and experience
We are looking for you who
- hold a law degree or other relevant legal qualification
- have a few years of experience from, for example, a law firm, authority, bank, securities company, trading venue, compliance function, or similar operations
- have knowledge of securities trading, the securities market, and/or how trading venues function
- have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
It is meritorious if you have
- experience or studies focused on the securities market
- knowledge of relevant regulations, such as MAR, the Transparency Regulation, the Prospectus Regulation, or MiFID/MiFIR
- understanding of listed companies' information disclosure and handling of inside information
- experience with a clear connection to the capital market.
About you
To thrive in the role, you need to be self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks from start to finish. You plan and drive your work forward while ensuring quality in your assessments.
You have good collaboration skills and contribute to an open and constructive work climate. The role also requires you to be analytical and able to grasp complex issues.
As a person, you are decisive and confident in making well-founded decisions, even when questions are complex or underlying data needs interpretation.
