The Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department includes research and education in the subjects: business administration, law, economics, statistics, geography, and tourism science.

Job Description

Mittuniversitetet is seeking a substitute University Lecturer in Economics.

The position includes teaching both distance and campus-based courses in the subject of economics. The teaching covers the courses Microeconomics (A), Macroeconomics (A), as well as Financial Economics and Currency Systems (B). The campus-based courses are offered within the Economist and Civil Engineer programs, while the standalone courses are offered online.

The duties include teaching, examination, supervision, as well as course responsibility and course development for the aforementioned courses. Administrative tasks related to teaching are also included in the position.

Qualifications

The person appointed as a University Lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations.

Qualified for the position is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and subject-specific competence, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics or equivalent competence within the subject area of the position.

Good oral and written communication skills in Swedish are required for the position.

Other Requirements

The person appointed as a University Lecturer must have demonstrated pedagogical skill. We expect you to have a strong ability to take initiative and work independently. You have excellent collaboration skills. Personal suitability and the ability to contribute to the development of the operations are highly valued. You are organized and willing to collaborate with various parts of the university's administrative units.

Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation criteria for the appointment of a University Lecturer include

the degree of skill required for qualification for the position. The assessment of pedagogical skill should be given equal care as the assessment of other qualification-related factors.

Particular weight will be placed on documented experience of teaching at the undergraduate level in Economics at the university or college level, as well as demonstrated pedagogical skill.

Experience in teaching in digital learning environments (Canvas) and distance education is meritorious.

A Master's degree in Economics is meritorious.

Processing

The processing of the appointment continues in accordance with Mittuniversitetet's employment regulations.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a full-time (100%) substitute position starting from 2026-10-15 or as agreed, but no later than 2027-06-30.

Place of Employment: Östersund. By agreement, there is an opportunity for remote work during the autumn semester of 2026.
