Jämtlands Gymnasieförbund is responsible for upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, and parts of adult education in our member municipalities. The federation's eight schools are located in nature and mountain environments spread across six municipalities: Berg, Bräcke, Krokom, Ragunda, Åre, and Östersund.

Jämtlands Gymnasium Wargentin is the largest upper secondary school in northern Sweden. The school is located in the center of Östersund. Description

We are looking for a student assistant for our individual program within the adapted upper secondary school. You will work closely with students in a small group, where the focus during the upcoming school year will be to gradually develop the students' ability to participate in class instruction. The role involves supporting students in both their knowledge development and social interaction throughout the school day.

The position is a temporary full-time (100%) role starting on August 10, 2026.

Your future responsibilities

As a student assistant here, you work closely with the students, providing support in both pedagogical and social situations throughout the school day. You contribute to creating a safe and structured learning environment, motivate students in their development, and act as a clear and present adult figure in their daily lives.

The role also includes supporting students in practical moments, such as during physical education classes, as well as during changing, showering, and bathing. The work involves supporting male students.

Who are you?

To thrive and succeed in this role, you need patience and a good ability to create a sense of security for the students in their daily lives. You will encounter young people in a phase where identity development and social interaction are in focus, which requires you to be a stable and positive role model. You work with low affectivity, maintaining calm in challenging situations, while being responsive and building trusting relationships with the students. In your work approach, you are clear and structured, set boundaries, and help students create predictability during the school day.

A high school education is required. It is an advantage if you have education as a student assistant, childcare worker, or other pedagogical or social education. Previous experience working with young people in adapted schools or similar activities is also considered an advantage.
