Domarhagsskolan is a grades 7–9 school in central Avesta Municipality. We are located next door to Karlfeldt Gymnasium and share some facilities with them. We currently have 320 students at the school. We have a special education group and an Adapted Primary School 7–9, as well as a secondary section with four parallel classes. This autumn, we are also launching the municipality's acute school.

The staff at the school is engaged and works in accordance with the jointly developed game plan. Professionalism, respect, and courage are three key words there. The concept #aktivtsnäll (active kindness) guides us in our goal-oriented and promoting work for safety and study peace. Based on this, we have also chosen to be a mobile-phone-free school.

Have we sparked your curiosity? Are you an engaged teacher who wants to develop at our workplace? Then you are welcome to apply to us!

About the position

We are looking for a secure, clear, and relationship-building teacher for our newly opened acute school. You will work with students in need of special support in an environment where the focus is on safety, study peace, and knowledge development while waiting for permanent school placement. The acute school is scheduled to start during the autumn term of 2026.

Since an acute school involves a special environment with students in crisis or with major challenges, you as a teacher need to place great emphasis on both safety and structure and have personal maturity. The role involves teaching and supporting students who have temporarily been placed at the acute school due to acute disciplinary or safety-related reasons. The focus is on providing students with a calm study place, maintaining their knowledge development, and preparing them for a successful return to their regular school.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with social services, guardians, and the student health team. You will work in a team with other staff, and after the period at the acute school, the students should have better conditions to benefit from education at their regular school.

Your qualifications

You must be a certified teacher for the later years of primary school and be able to present a satisfactory background check upon employment. You need to have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and have at least 3–5 years of experience teaching in primary school. You should also have documented experience working with students in need of special support or students with norm-breaking behavior. Training in conflict management, such as Low-Affective Handling (LAB) or ART (Aggression Replacement Training), is also an advantage for the assignment, as is knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD) and trauma-adapted pedagogy.

Employment type: Permanent position.

Duration: Permanent
