Fredrika Bremer School is a lower and middle school located in the heart of Nyby in Uppsala, a grades F-5 school as well as an after-school center (fritidshem) with approximately 310 students in a safe and manageable environment. The school offers a cozy learning environment close to nature and outdoor areas that support student development. As a proud partner school to the teacher training college, we regularly receive student teachers and work actively with pedagogical development and collegial learning. We also work with IBIS (Inclusive Behavioral Support in Schools) together with Uppsala University.

Work with us is characterized by close relationships and good cooperation between the school and the after-school center, where the small scale contributes to security and overview. The school has a teacher density at or above average, which provides good conditions for giving students individual support and high-quality teaching. Security and study environment are central cornerstones in our operations and are also reflected in the school's survey results. The after-school center complements the school day with care and meaningful activities from early morning until late afternoon, creating a whole that strengthens students' social and emotional development.

Description of Duties

As a teacher in the after-school center, you will become an important part of a dedicated team where you collaborate closely with mentors, teachers, and after-school staff. Together, you create a coherent and meaningful school day for the students, from morning to afternoon. The assignment includes planning, implementing, and developing teaching in the after-school center, as well as contributing pedagogically throughout the entire school day. You help create a safe, stimulating, and developmental environment where every student has the opportunity to grow.

In this role, you work both independently and together with colleagues, such as teachers, after-school assistants, and student assistants. An important part of the work is to actively collaborate throughout the school day and contribute to students' learning and well-being in all environments. You are responsible for planning, implementing, following up, and developing the pedagogical work based on the curriculum. You also participate in supervision and care, handle documentation and administrative tasks, and maintain ongoing contact with guardians. The work also includes participating in break activities and pedagogical meals.

You contribute to a holistic view of the student's day by being a present adult during transitions between lessons, breaks, meals, and after-school activities. You support students during lesson time, both individually and in groups, in close dialogue with the responsible teacher. You are actively involved in students' break and meal situations and can take responsibility for teaching when colleagues are absent.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teaching license with eligibility for the after-school center.

You are proactive, flexible, and development-oriented in your work in the after-school center. You gladly take initiative and start activities that create engagement and learning. You adapt easily to changing situations during the day and can adjust your working methods based on students' needs. Furthermore, you are curious about development and embrace new ideas, methods, and working approaches that contribute to strengthening the operations and students' learning and well-being.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed on the war establishment (krigsplacering).
