The Position and Duties

We are now looking for a Social Secretary for the Intake Unit for Domestic Violence. The team consists of 7 social secretaries led by a Unit Manager and a Senior Social Secretary. Here, you work close to people's reality in both acute situations and long-term change work.

This is a role for you who wants to take the next step in your development as a Social Secretary. You work close to the incident, make early assessments, and collaborate with colleagues and the police to provide support when it is needed most.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Receive and handle incoming cases.
  • Investigate and assess the need for protection and support according to the Social Services Act.
  • Make decisions and follow up on interventions.
  • Document according to current legislation.
  • Collaborate with the police, safe housing, and other actors.
  • Contribute to the development of work within the field of domestic violence.

As part of the assignment, you work within Familjefrid (Family Peace), a working method where social services and the police collaborate in acute situations. Together with colleagues from the Intake Unit for Children and Young People, you meet families directly after an incident.

Social services are on site within 30 minutes of the alarm, which creates good conditions to reach out early and motivate for change.

The work involves evening shifts. You can request how often you wish to work evenings. Some employees choose to work evenings twice a week, while others work evenings approximately twice a month. Shifts are planned on weekday evenings until 23:00, but may last longer if interventions are ongoing. You work in a team and share a joint responsibility in acute situations.

We offer you

With us, you have the opportunity to take the next step in your development as a Social Secretary. You work close to the incident, in complex cases, and together with colleagues where you support each other in assessments and develop working methods in an area of great importance. You have close support from the Senior Social Secretary in daily work, which creates security in a role that demands both independence and collaboration.

You become part of the Social Services Department in Botkyrka Municipality, where we work with support for children, young people, and adults.

Within the Intake Unit for Domestic Violence, you work together with social secretaries in close collaboration with other parts of the operations and external actors such as the police and safe housing. The unit is in a development phase where the work with Familjefrid continues to take shape, meaning you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of working methods and collaboration.

You who apply to us

You have a degree in Social Work or another academic degree in behavioral science, social work, or sociology.

Other requirements for the position:

  • Previous experience with exercising official authority and having performed investigation work within social services.
  • Experience working with the Motivational Interviewing method.

We consider it meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working in the field of domestic violence.
  • Previous work experience with the Island Model (Islandsmodellen).
  • Previous experience working with the Signs of Safety method.

In this role, your ability to collaborate and build relationships is crucial. You work closely with colleagues from different parts of the operation and with the police in acute situations, where you quickly need to create a common situational overview and make decisions. You need to be able to build trust when meeting people in vulnerable situations, often directly after an incident, while simultaneously collaborating with other professions to ensure the right interventions.

The work also requires you to be structured and stable. You need to be able to prioritize and make well-founded decisions in situations that can change quickly, while ensuring that documentation and case handling maintain high quality. You remain calm under pressure and can switch between acute interventions and more long-term work without losing direction or quality.

For positions in the Social Services Department in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
