The Reception Unit for Children and Young People is part of the Early Social Support area and is a division of the Promotion and Preventive Social Interventions department. The area and department were created as part of the transition to the new Social Services Act, where we among other things want to offer early support to children, young people, and parents.

Your role
The Reception Unit for Children and Young People receives reports and applications for children and young people aged 0-20.
The role includes:
- Making initial safety assessments, handling reports and applications, providing information, consultation, advice, and guiding individuals to the correct authority within social services and/or other operations.
- Collaborating with other authorities and partners, such as schools, preschools, police, and the region.
- Working based on an on-call operation where some work may also take place outside regular working hours. Most of the work is based on the unit's joint planning of cases, but more urgent cases also occur where flexibility and a good ability to adapt are strengths.
- Functioning as an ambassador for social services and having a respectful and good attitude towards the people you come into contact with. Our employees and managers have a strong drive to find new paths and methods in their work. As a social secretary, you can make a difference by contributing your ideas, your engagement, and courage.
Your competence and experience
We are looking for you who have:
- A degree in Social Work (Social Worker).
- Knowledge of current legislation operated according to the Social Services Act (SoL), the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), and other relevant legislation.
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing as a large part of the work consists of documentation, record keeping, and administration.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience of investigation work and case handling within social services, preferably with children and young people using the BBIC model.
- Experience of other authority exercises.
- Training in Signs of Safety.
- Knowledge of the data system Paraply.
- Category B driver's license
Since the work often involves meetings with people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and treat people in a respectful manner. You are sensitive and adapt your attitude based on the recipient's needs and the current situation.
It is also important that you can work flexibly and plan, structure, and take initiative to drive your work forward. Furthermore, you contribute to good cooperation through an open, accommodating, and solution-oriented approach.

We will begin the selection process already during the application period, and interviews may therefore be conducted on an ongoing basis. For work with children and young people within the City of Stockholm, you are required to present an extract from the criminal record.
