The County Administrative Board is the government's representative in the county and coordinates regional development work. We work with issues such as environmental and nature conservation, rural areas, urban planning, animal welfare, emergency preparedness, gender equality, integration, and cultural heritage. At the Veterinary Unit, we are about 20 employees. We work with animal welfare for pets and horses, animal welfare on farms, food and feed on farms, trade standards for eggs, disease control, veterinary issues, as well as cases concerning dangerous dogs and the registration of dogs and cats. We are divided into four work groups with close cooperation between the groups.

Job Responsibilities

We offer stimulating and varied work where you will mainly work with controlling animal welfare on farm animals. You will primarily perform animal welfare inspections for cattle, pigs, and sheep. During inspections, you will, through dialogue with the animal keeper, verify that animal husbandry meets the requirements of animal welfare legislation. At the end of the inspection, you must summarize the inspection and, if deficiencies are found, inform about them and what needs to be achieved according to legislative requirements. Within animal welfare control, you work with routine inspections, notification-based inspections, and follow-ups of previously identified deficiencies. You normally conduct inspections on farms as the sole case handler. You are responsible for the entire case handling process, including inspections, preparing inspection reports, registration, orders, and any other decisions. You may also perform inspections within feed and food in primary production, inspections of pets, answer public inquiries, and receive reports via the unit's contact phone for animal welfare. You will be part of a work group and have close cooperation with approximately 13 colleagues.

Other areas of work within the unit may also become relevant, so you need to have an interest and willingness to develop within the unit's other areas of operation.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic education relevant to the work, for example, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on farm animals, a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on animal production, or other education and experience that the employer deems suitable. We would appreciate that you have experience with animal-producing animals through having worked on a farm, been an advisor, worked as an animal welfare inspector, or similar. This position requires that you have good computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. The position involves travel, and therefore a B driving license is required.
