Welcome to Linnaeus University! Here you will meet 2,200 employees and 40,000 students who together follow the vision of putting knowledge into motion for sustainable societal development. At our university, research and education are conducted with a view towards the future. Our proximity to the business community, both locally and globally, gives us long reach and the opportunity for change that leaves a mark. All that is needed is a place where ideas have room to meet and grow. That is what we have created – and you are invited. Change starts here!
The position is located at the secretariat for teacher education within the Board for Teacher Education (NLU). The secretariat has approximately 25 employees and is responsible for investigations and supporting materials for the planning and follow-up of education, collaboration, and research within Linnaeus University's teacher education, which is conducted in the form of a buyer organization. The secretariat also provides administrative support for the implementation of teacher programs, including VFU (Work Integrated Learning) placements and study and career guidance. The teacher education programs are quality assured through program councils working on behalf of the board. Linnaeus University's teacher education is extensive and faces exciting development opportunities related to teachers' competence development.
Job Responsibilities
The work primarily involves study and career guidance within teacher education, focusing on the Subject Teacher Program and Complementary Pedagogical Education (KPU). The position includes contact with both current and prospective students, both national and international. Contacts are made through physical and/or digital visits, phone, and email. Work regarding study progress and study breaks is documented in a web-based tool, the so-called Teacher Education Portal, where the advisor creates individual study plans for the student's total program education. You are also responsible for regularly following up on students' study progress in the study administrative system Ladok.
Information to student groups about the teacher programs and various options related to these, as well as participation in information days, is also part of the job. The position also includes study administrative tasks in the form of case handling and administration based on the operations' needs relevant to study and career guidance, for example, questions about credit transfers, admission to later parts of the program, and eligibility issues related to teacher certification. Some administrative work related to the secretariat's international operations may also occur.
The work is carried out individually but also within the framework of the secretariat's study and career guidance group. Another important grouping at the secretariat is the so-called teams that work with operational issues around the teacher programs, where you regularly meet education coordinators, VFU coordinators, education administrators, and other functions.
Collaboration also takes place with course teachers at the relevant departments as well as with staff at the central university level, such as the admissions unit, student health, and examination unit.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in study and career guidance and experience in study counseling or other relevant professional experience. You should be able to support students' study and career planning in a qualified manner. Your communicative skills, inclusive speech, writing, and digital competence towards people of all kinds are therefore essential to perform the job well. The work also requires that you have an open mind and enjoy working both independently and in a group.
Experience of administrative work within public administration and good knowledge of university and higher education regulations are meritorious, as is experience of working in Ladok. Knowledge of and experience with teacher education is also meritorious.
We place great importance on personal qualities and are looking for you who are outgoing, service-oriented, meticulous, and have an interest in working with students. The person we are looking for also enjoys developing working methods, both for their own work and for the operations. The work is periodically intensive and requires flexibility, efficiency, and a professional attitude with a high service level in contacts.
