The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) is a center for children and adults with medical and surgical diseases in the ear, nose, and throat region. It is part of the Specialized Surgery area at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund and Malmö. We have regional responsibility, covering everything from basic healthcare to highly specialized care. Together with Lund University and Malmö University, the ENT department provides education for physicians, speech therapists, and audiologists.

We are a large group of medical secretaries and administrators who, with pride and commitment, work daily to provide the best possible administrative support for patients and the organization as a whole. Our work is team-based, with each team specializing in a specific area. We now have the opportunity to welcome a medical secretary to a combined role as an Operating Room Coordinator. RESPONSIBILITIES

The position involves a split role: half-time in standard duties as a medical secretary and half-time as an Operating Room Coordinator. Every other week, you will be placed in a team of medical secretaries, sharing responsibility for tasks such as dictation, booking, quality assurance, referral, and mail handling.

Every other week, your placement is as an Operating Room Coordinator, where you have overall responsibility for planning the operating program. This includes calling patients, ensuring everything is ready for surgery, and managing quality assurance for the surgical waiting list. The work is interdisciplinary and involves daily close dialogue with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff on the operating wards. It is a varied role where changes to the schedule often occur and must be handled with short notice.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome applicants with a completed education in Health and Medical Care Administration (80 p KY or 400 p YH), or a medical secretary education, or other education deemed relevant by the employer. You must have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written. Experience with Melior and Pasis is required. Proficiency in Excel, Orbit, and Qlikview is considered an advantage, as is previous experience working as an Operating Room Coordinator.

Essential for the role is good teamwork skills, combined with the ability to work independently and structure your work. You are flexible, engaged, have a strong service orientation, and the ability to take responsibility. The tasks require an interest in how healthcare is structured and how your own operations are planned and followed up. We work with the patient in focus, and as an Operating Room Coordinator, you will have daily contact with patients waiting for or being called for surgery, making your communication skills crucial.
