About the unit

The newly established unit for food and agriculture is part of the Division for Green Industries. The unit is responsible, among other things, for the national research program for food, Nordic cooperation, and EU partnerships within food and agriculture.

About the role

As a Research Secretary at Formas, you work within a range of different areas within the framework of your expertise, with the goal of supporting and strengthening knowledge development. You plan and lead the work with calls for proposals and preparation of research applications in collaboration with external experts. You also work on developing various strategic agendas and programs, mapping and analyzing knowledge needs in dialogue with a wide range of actors, and participating in various forms of collaboration and knowledge exchange. Part of the work involves various collaborations and initiatives at the European level, for example within the framework of Horizon Europe or current Nordic collaborations.

The tasks include representing Formas in collaboration with other authorities, industry organizations, and stakeholders in the field, as well as planning and implementing outward-looking activities. The work also involves preparing background materials and analyses, leading reference groups, compiling views from Swedish actors, and responding to consultations. Analysts and communicators also work at the unit, and participation in broader analysis assignments within the authority may occur.

Who are you?

You have a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with the food sector, both nationally and at the European level. You have experience working from a broad systems perspective, with a strong interest in navigating a field where there are both synergies and goal conflicts, in close dialogue and collaboration with a wide range of different stakeholders and actors. The position contains both analytical and more outward-looking parts, and it is an advantage if you are comfortable with varied work with several parallel tracks.

As a person, you are driven, structured, curious, meticulous, and responsible. You have the ability to work both independently and in a group and have a good ability to adapt to different tasks and situations. Requirements for the position:

• Doctoral education relevant to the position (or equivalent qualifications acquired in other ways)
• Good knowledge and experience within the food sector
• Very good communicator in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing

 Merits for the position:

• Work experience from the public sector, business, or civil society within the food sector
• Experience of analysis and investigation work relevant to food research
• Collaboration within the framework of international R&D work, e.g., within the EU's framework programs

Working at Formas

Formas is a government agency with approximately 110 employees. Our areas of operation include environment, primary industries, and societal development. About the employment

You will be employed as a Research Secretary and belong to the newly formed unit for food and agriculture in the Division for Green Industries. The employment is a fixed-term full-time position for 12 months. Start date as soon as possible.
