About the job

As a case officer in one of the CSO units, you are part of a dynamic group of colleagues who handle support to civil society organizations. The focus of the role is to process interventions within the framework of Sweden's development cooperation strategy with civil society. You will, among other things, review and assess applications, prepare decision-making materials, follow up on projects, and engage in dialogue with various actors within the aid sector. The operations include support through both Swedish and international civil society organizations and direct support to civil society in developing countries. Through your work, you contribute to promoting democracy, human rights, and human security, and strengthening the capacity and conditions of organizations.

The position is located in the Global Division, which brings together global strategy and intervention management and works based on Sida's various thematic areas.

You work at Sida's office in Rissne, Sundbyberg.

Responsibilities

  • Process interventions, including assessment of applications, follow-up of result reports, and dialogue with cooperation partners.
  • Use and develop relevant methods and approaches to support civil society, including partner capacity development, results management, and aid effectiveness.
  • Participate in contact with other units and divisions, foreign missions, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as well as cooperation and dialogue partners such as other authorities, civil society organizations, and representatives from actor groups such as the business community and the research community.
  • Support the work with a range of common tasks within the unit and division.

Qualifications

Education

  • An academic degree in a field relevant to the operations.

Languages

  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Work experience and knowledge

  • Documented experience of international development cooperation.
  • Documented experience of processing aid interventions, including work with budgets and financial reporting.
  • Documented experience of working from or with civil society organizations.

For this role, you need to:

  • Have the ability to lead dialogue and create consensus.
  • Be able to use various analysis tools.

Merits

For this role, the following are considered merits:

  • Experience of working in developing countries.
  • Experience of processing support to civil society in difficult contexts.
  • Broad experience of working in authorities, private, or multilateral actors.
  • Experience of innovative interventions within development cooperation.
  • Experience of working with issues related to democracy, human rights, rule of law principles, gender equality, free market and property rights, accountability, tolerance, anti-corruption, and/or peace and security.
  • Language skills in French, Spanish, Arabic, or other languages relevant to Sida.

Good to know

The position (one to several) refers to permanent employment with an start date in August 2026. Probation period applies.

Sida offers the possibility of remote work to some extent if it works for the operations.
