Workplace Description

The Language Centre is a unit within the Department for Support regarding Learning and Student Health. The Language Centre offers mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue in about 70 different languages for students in Stockholm's municipal schools. We currently have approximately 400 employees.

The activity of the Language Centre aims to maintain and develop children's and young people's multilingualism and contribute to increased goal achievement for students whose mother tongue is not Swedish. As a teacher at the Language Centre, you are itinerant and work at several schools in the municipality.

Job Responsibilities

The work consists of mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue for students in Stockholm's schools. The teaching is primarily in primary school grades F-9, but it is desirable to be able to teach at the upper secondary level as well. You collaborate with colleagues and have teaching assignments at several schools.

Qualifications

We see mother tongue instruction and study guidance as a very important part of the student's language development and goal achievement. Language-developing approaches in all subjects are therefore highly prioritized. We expect you to have a holistic view of student learning and be eager to develop your profession with us. You have:

• Teacher education with eligibility in the relevant language
• Experience as a teacher in mother tongue and study guidance
• Current teaching language as mother tongue
• Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
• Good computer skills

Meritorious:

• Experience of teaching at the Language Centre in the City of Stockholm
