Special Needs Teacher with a focus on Intellectual Disability at Guldkroksskolan

Job Responsibilities

As a special needs teacher in special education at Guldkroksskolan, you work with students in need of special support, both individually and in groups. Through your pedagogical work, you contribute to creating conditions for each student to develop as much as possible based on their own potential.

You plan the teaching together with colleagues based on the curriculum for special education, both within subjects and subject areas. The assignment includes adapting teaching, learning environments, and communication to meet the students' different needs.

You also support the work team in pedagogical mapping, documentation, adaptations, as well as follow-up and evaluation of students' development. Together with colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the teaching based on regulatory documents and the students' individual needs.

Collaboration occurs continuously with the school's student health team and, if necessary, with external actors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated and licensed as a subject teacher in primary school with further education as a special needs teacher with a focus on intellectual disability.

You are engaged, structured, and confident in your professional role. You plan and conduct teaching with a focus on each student's development and adapt the work based on individual needs and prerequisites. You document, follow up, and communicate the students' development with the principal, students, and guardians.

We would appreciate it if you have experience of working within special education and good knowledge of its regulatory documents.

You have a conscious pedagogical approach and work from a relational view of the student. You are clear, flexible, and have good cooperation skills, while also being able to work independently. You are solution-focused and have a low-affective approach in your interactions.

You find it easy to create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, and you use digital tools and compensatory aids as support in teaching.

Guldkroksskolan F–6 is centrally located in Hjo and includes primary school, special education, and after-school care. The special education in Hjo Municipality is distributed between Estrid Ericsonskolan (grades 1–4) and Guldkroksskolan (grades 5–9), where this position is located.
