Team Leader for After-School Center at Valla School

Schools in Katrineholm offer a safe and developmental schooling experience with creative learning at the forefront. Within the Education and Employment Administration, we have preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, upper secondary schools, adapted upper secondary schools, reception units for newly arrived students, municipal activity responsibility, adult education, cultural schools, technical schools, central child and student health services, employment units, and a campus for higher studies.

Valla is a pleasant suburb only a 10-minute commute from Katrineholm. The community features a primary school (grades F-6) with an associated after-school center where approximately 30 educators work with just over 200 students. The school offers functional facilities that support the development of students' subject knowledge. In addition to classrooms and group rooms, the school has a home economics room, a music room, a science room, two craft rooms, a large library, and two gymnasiums. The pleasant outdoor environment encourages play and community.

This autumn, the after-school center will have access to entirely its own premises, which from the autumn term of 2026 will not be shared with school operations. All our classrooms and after-school activities are equipped with Smartboards. Staff have access to a Mac computer/iPad and a dedicated work phone.

Through close collaboration between educators and school leadership, the school actively works to improve the quality of teaching. We adopt an approach where we view everyone's differences as a resource, and where safety, motivation, and joy are fundamental values at our school.

Responsibilities

You will play a central role in the development of our after-school center and help shape future operations. For those driven by development and eager to build something new, we offer an exciting opportunity to make a real difference.

Your main focus will be on the pedagogical mission of the after-school center and creating a safe, stimulating, and meaningful activity for the students. We also view it positively if you have a specialization in sports & health, music, or visual arts & crafts, as this competence can be utilized both in school and at the after-school center.

The position includes team leadership responsibility for our after-school center, which currently consists of two departments. You will lead and coordinate the team and drive pedagogical development forward together with your colleagues.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have education as a primary school teacher for after-school centers/after-school pedagogues. A teaching license is required, and experience is desirable. You should have good knowledge of the after-school center's mission based on the curriculum and other regulatory documents.

You are proactive, development-oriented, and have the ability to build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. As a person, you are structured, flexible, and contribute to a positive work climate.
