Driven Parent Support Worker for Combined Role in Prevention Unit, Järfälla

The Social Services Administration in Järfälla is responsible for elderly care, disability services, and individual and family care. Within the Individual and Family Care department, there is outpatient care, Support and Treatment, where the Prevention Unit is one of five units.

The Prevention Unit is now seeking a driven Parent Support Worker for an exciting combined role where you will have the opportunity to work with home visit programs, individual parent support, and the coordination of parent groups. We work based on the home visit program RUTH (Rinkeby Extended Home Visit Program) and the parent support programs ABC (All Children in the Center) and FöS (Parenting in Sweden).

The Prevention Unit works to promote, prevent, and provide early interventions aimed at the residents of Järfälla. Currently, the unit employs, in addition to the unit manager, three group leaders and 35 staff members. In addition to parent support, the unit handles family counseling, field operations, SSPF - early support, the digital support SES (Collaboration after Separation), school social workers, and coordinators within prevention, domestic violence, and honor-related issues. The unit has long and substantial experience in preventive social work and welcomes you if you can become part of our preventive team.

Job Responsibilities

Parent support at the unit is organized into two teams: one team works with individual parent support, collaboration with family centers, and home visit programs, while the other team works with the coordination of group-based parent support. The teams work in close collaboration, and in this combined role, you will be one of two parent support workers involved in both teams.

The role thus entails that 50% of the working time is dedicated to coordinating and conducting parent groups and leader training, while the other 50% is dedicated to working with RUTH, Rinkeby's extended home visit program in Jakobsberg, as well as individual parent support.

We work in collaboration with the region regarding family centers in Jakobsberg, Kallhäll, and Barkarby and currently operate the RUTH home visit program in Kallhäll and Jakobsberg. Parent support workers have a close and well-functioning collaboration with Child Health Centers (BVC) and Maternity Health Centers (BMM). Individual conversations are offered to parents of the youngest children, aged 0–5 years.

Regarding group-based parent support, we offer a wide range of parent groups as well as training to become group leaders for these groups. The unit is responsible for supporting group leaders and monitoring the work. Group-based parent support is aimed at parents with children aged 0–20 years.

Your responsibilities as a Parent Support Worker in this combined role include:

• Coordination of the parent support programs ABC and FöS
• RUTH home visit program in Jakobsberg
• Supportive conversations with expectant or new parents, often based on referrals from BVC and BMM identifying needs for support based on various risk factors.
• Collaboration with other administrations, operations, and civil society

The work is in an exciting development phase regarding making parent support accessible in line with the new Social Services Act's focus on preventive work. The role involves conducting parts of the work in various arenas within the municipality, including outreach and trust-building activities.

We offer external supervision and apply annual working hours. Some evening work may occur, particularly when parent groups and outreach activities are conducted.

Qualifications and Merits

Requirements:

• We are looking for you who are a social worker or have another equivalent higher education degree that the employer deems relevant
• Experience working with parent support and facilitating parent groups
• Competence and experience in conducting supportive conversations

Merits:

• Experience working with RUTH or a similar home visit program
• Experience coordinating parent groups and supporting parent group leaders
• Training in leading ABC and FöS
• Instructor in a parent support program, such as ABC and FöS
• Other language skills besides Swedish and English

To succeed in this role, you need to have a good ability to work in teams, both with other parent support workers and with other professional categories. You also need the ability to build relationships and work outwardly and trust-building. You need to be flexible, enjoy varied tasks, and have the ability to adapt your work based on the operational needs.

The work assumes experience in independently organizing and planning your work. Personal suitability is highly valued.
