About the Position at SiS Youth Home Tysslinge

SiS Youth Home Tysslinge, located outside Södertälje, receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminal involvement, and substance abuse. The institution is classified in the highest security class and houses young people at high risk of threats, violence, and absconding. We have seven wards accommodating young people placed under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU) and those sentenced under the Closed Youth Care Act (LSU). One ward is dedicated to care in isolation (VIE). Most of our young people are in legal proceedings or have been convicted of serious crimes and are connected to criminal networks.

Your Responsibilities

As a Treatment Pedagogue or Treatment Assistant, you work in a team sharing the responsibility for providing the structure, safety, care, and treatment that young people need. You meet young people in crisis and support them in their daily lives through individually adapted care and motivational work with clear structures. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that treatment plans are followed. Documentation is a key part of your work for planning and follow-up.

During daytime hours, you also act as a student assistant, supporting the young people's schooling and leisure activities.

Due to Tysslinge's highest security classification, high risk awareness is required. You are responsible for maintaining safety according to established routines. The work is demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied. It involves conflict management and, in some cases, physical interventions, for which mandatory training is provided. As a civil servant, you are expected to act professionally, objectively, and in accordance with the rule of law, sharing SiS's vision of being a place for change.

Introduction

The employment begins with a mandatory introduction week, which is a prerequisite for starting work on the ward. Training takes place on-site at Tysslinge, with the first session starting in week 35 after the summer.

Working Hours

This is a casual/temporary position where you work extra as needed and set your own availability. We primarily need casual staff for daytime, evenings, and weekends, though night shifts may occur. Most shifts are long. There is an opportunity to work more during the summer period.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a secure, adult role model with a humanistic view of people. You have a good ability to build relationships and engage young people, remain calm under pressure, and consistently follow laws and routines. You collaborate well with other professions and are willing to share knowledge.

Requirements for Treatment Pedagogue:

• Completed upper secondary education
• Degree from a 2-year post-secondary education (KY/YH) in social/pedagogical treatment work, or a university degree assessed as equivalent
• Experience in youth-oriented work
• Good proficiency in Swedish (spoken and written)

Merits:

• Category B driver's license
• Experience working with young people in vulnerable situations
• Training in MI (Motivational Interviewing)

According to the new Social Services Ordinance (Chapter 5, Section 4), we only hire individuals without at least two years of post-secondary education in special exceptions, who are then hired as Treatment Assistants.
