About the School

Practical Gymnasium in Nacka offers students a concept where theory is interwoven with practical exercises both at school and at workplaces. At Practical, we hold ourselves to high standards to create the best conditions for a educational and fun education. Our teaching is characterized by flexibility, proximity, and practical learning. Our program offerings include: Childcare and Leisure, Construction and Infrastructure, Electrical and Energy, Hairdressing and Barbering, Vehicles and Transport, Sales and Service, Plumbing and Property, Care and Nursing, as well as introductory programs. Currently, the school has approximately 530 students and about 50 employees.

We offer only apprenticeship or apprenticeship-like education, and APL (Workplace-based Learning) is a large part of our work. We are a school where all staff collaborate to ensure students reach their goals, and for the last 14 years, approximately 95% of our students have gone directly into jobs every year. All students study entrepreneurship and run UF companies in year 3. International APL is also offered to students, as well as the opportunity for teachers to job shadow in another country within the Erasmus project.

We have chosen to prioritize a well-developed student health service with 5 special needs teachers/special educators and 5 full-time mentors.

The school is located in Nacka Strand, close to both commuter ferries/Waxholm boats and buses from Slussen as well as Älta/Tyresö/Haninge.

Your Role

The position is a 100% vacation cover starting 13/8-26. You will teach and supervise our students within the Plumbing and Property program, property specialization, apprenticeship, and together with the teachers in Construction and Infrastructure, you will plan and collaborate between property and construction. You will be part of a team consisting of vocational teachers, core subject teachers, a special needs teacher, and a full-time mentor. We see you as an important and driving force to develop both the program and the subject, with the students in focus and in collaboration with colleagues. We communicate primarily through StudyBee, and we work in both Schoolsoft and Google environments by sharing digital documents, calendars, and plans.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a certified vocational teacher within the Plumbing and Property program, property specialization, and who have many years of experience from both school and property maintenance. We place great importance on personal qualities. You who lack teacher certification have the opportunity to apply for the position. In such cases, we will jointly draw up a plan for how you can become certified in the shortest way possible. The duties include contact with business life as a large part, at least 50% of the students' total school time, and up to 80% of the vocational courses consist of workplace-based learning (APL), and therefore good communication with employers is meritorious.
