Revisorsinspektionen (Swedish Inspectorate of Auditors) is seeking a Chief Legal Counsel/Division Manager

Revisorsinspektionen is the authority responsible for supervising and ensuring the quality of auditors and audit firms in Sweden. By issuing licenses, conducting quality controls, and investigating disciplinary matters, the authority works to maintain high standards of independence, competence, and professional ethics within the auditing industry. Revisorsinspektionen's work contributes to strengthening trust in financial information in society and thereby to a well-functioning economy.

Do you want to lead and develop the supervision of auditing in Sweden – at a time of significant change? Revisorsinspektionen is now looking for a Chief Legal Counsel who is also a Division Manager and wishes to contribute to a socially vital operation.

About the role

You are responsible for the work within the legal department and also have personnel responsibility for the department's seven employees. Since the supervision is carried out by lawyers and auditors together, you lead, prioritize, and develop the authority's work in the supervision area together with the Chief Auditor. You have the ultimate responsibility for the authority's legal governance and quality, with a focus on efficiency and legal certainty.

You are part of the authority's management group, report to the Head of Authority, and represent the authority both internally and externally.

At the turn of the year 2026/2027, Revisorsinspektionen will take over the tasks of the Swedish Accounting Standards Board (Bokföringsnämnden). This means you will have a central role in a comprehensive development and change process, where, as a member of the management group, you participate in further developing the organization, working methods, and processes – both within your own division and in close collaboration with other parts of the authority.

Our offer

We offer you a strategically important and influential role in an authority with a central societal mission. As Chief Legal Counsel and Division Manager, you have a broad mandate to lead, influence, and develop the supervision activities in Sweden.

You are part of the authority's management group and work closely with the Head of Authority and other key functions, with significant influence over priorities, working methods, and development initiatives. The role offers good opportunities to combine strategic work with operational responsibility in complex and qualified issues.

The upcoming expansion of the authority's mission means that you will have a central role in shaping future operations. You will thus have the opportunity to influence how the authority is organized, governed, and developed in a long-term, efficient, and sustainable way.

We offer a professional and knowledge-intensive work environment with high competence among employees, an open and trusting climate, as well as good opportunities for experience sharing and continued development – both as a leader and a lawyer.

About you

You are a secure and clear leader who creates conditions for engagement, quality, and results. You have a good ability to lead in change and continuously develop both operations and employees. You work strategically and analytically with the ability to handle complex issues and see the whole picture of the operations. You make well-founded decisions and act with integrity, judgment, and independence, even in challenging situations. You communicate clearly and create participation, trust, and a good collaboration climate. You can delegate and trust in the abilities and performance of qualified employees.

Qualifications

You must have:

  • A degree in Law (Juristexamen)
  • Extensive experience in qualified legal work
  • Experience from working in the public sector
  • Experience in leading qualified employees
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

It is meritorious to have:

  • Experience as an Administrative Court or Court of Appeal assessor, or equivalent
  • Experience of legislative work within the Government Offices (Regeringskansliet)
  • Experience of the EU's legislative process
  • Knowledge of corporate law, specifically company law, accounting law, and auditing law
  • Experience in leading change and development work

Other

Great importance will be attached to personal qualities. The employment is a permanent position. You are employed as a lawyer with a time-limited managerial appointment that can be extended. Travel for work purposes occurs. The workplace is in Stockholm, and there is an opportunity to agree on remote work a few days per week.
