Workplace Description

Film Studies is one of the research and teaching subjects at the Centre for Languages and Literature. Film Studies offers undergraduate and advanced courses as well as a bachelor's course, along with a selection of non-progressing elective courses and components within the subject teacher education in Swedish. A master's programme in Film Studies is currently under development, and the subject has long offered doctoral education. The subject is located in Section 2 together with Literary Studies, Literary Creation, and Dramaturgy, and is one of the central subjects in the foundation for the Anders Sandrew Centre for Artistic Creation, a centre that will commence operations in 2026, involving qualified collaboration between the Faculty of Arts and the Humanities and Theology faculties. Currently, the subject hosts two professors, four senior lecturers (two of whom are associate professors), one visiting postdoc, two fully funded doctoral students, and several affiliated researchers. The operations are physically located at the Centre for Languages and Literature on Helgonabacken in Lund. Duties and Responsibilities

As a substitute lecturer (adjunkt), you will have specific responsibility for planning, teaching, and examination within both the Undergraduate and Advanced Course in Film Studies (FIVA10) and the Bachelor's Course in the same subject (FIVK10), including supervision of degree projects. The position includes teaching (80%), competence development (10%), and other duties (10%).

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Documented experience in teaching Film Studies courses at the undergraduate/advanced level and bachelor's level.
  • A completed advanced degree in a relevant subject for the position.
  • Proven pedagogical skill.
  • Ability to teach in Swedish or another Scandinavian language from the first day of employment.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.

For this temporary position, an exemption from the requirement for higher education pedagogical training may be considered if justified by other merits.

Merits for the position include:

  • Doctoral education in the subject and independent research.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training beyond the basic five weeks.
  • Experience teaching courses with similar subject content to those included in the temporary position.
  • Documented good teamwork skills.

Other Information

The position is a five-month temporary contract at 60%, starting September 1, 2026, or as agreed, but no later than January 31, 2027.

About the Centre for Languages and Literature

The Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL) is Sweden's largest institution focusing on languages, linguistics, literary studies, and area studies. SOL offers approximately 500 standalone courses, complemented by a growing number of degree programmes at the undergraduate and advanced levels. With its 36 subjects and around 30 doctoral programmes, SOL forms a solid unit with breadth and depth in education and research, distinguished by both national and international visibility. SOL is led by a board where the Dean is the chairman. Additionally, there are three deputy deans with specific operational responsibilities. SOL has approximately 300 employees and 8,000 students, of which about one hundred are doctoral students.
