We are proud of Trollhättan Municipality's over 5,000 employees, who make a positive difference in our residents' lives every day and contribute to developing the city's sustainability and vitality. We are driven and motivated by our core values: Courage, Participation, Innovation, and Action. Here, you will find exciting developments where you can help make our city even better.
Description
Trollhättan Municipality's Communications Department develops the organization's communication with employees, residents, and other stakeholders. We are responsible for our communication platforms and guiding documents, and we support various departments with different communication initiatives. We currently consist of nine employees; most work as generalists towards one or several departments, while others specialize in areas such as web, graphic profile, and social media.
We are now looking for a communicator who will primarily support the Education Department, one of our largest departments. The Education Department offers security and development for our youngest residents in Trollhättan and their guardians, striving to make schools and preschools places people look forward to visiting. As a communicator, you will play a key role in the department's journey of change. Part of this journey involves demographic changes, with fewer children and young people in the coming years. Another part involves developing trust-based governance and leadership, both within the department and across the entire Municipality of Trollhättan.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will need several years of experience in strategic and operational communication work, preferably in a municipal organization or another public sector entity. You will work extensively with coaching and supporting department management and principals in connection with media issues, crises, and various larger and smaller change processes.
In addition to working with the Education Department, you may support various city-wide projects and processes with communication expertise. The assignments may change over time.
You will also work operationally to coordinate the Education Department's communication on the web, intranet, and social media. Other tasks may include strengthening communication around our profile schools with various campaigns, sometimes acting as the client for our procured communication agency. You will need to be prepared to handle the full breadth of a communicator's tasks, with support from knowledgeable colleagues in the Communications Department. You do not need to be an expert in everything yourself! Although you often work independently, we have combined competence with both breadth and specialization, and we support each other.
We are a group of smart, ambitious, and knowledgeable colleagues who develop and have fun together. We share our knowledge and are happy to test new ways of working. Here, you have good conditions to do a good and professional job. We are a development-oriented workplace with, for example, an organization-wide communication strategy, an easy-to-use graphic profile, and a newly built studio with professional equipment.
Qualifications
You likely have a university degree in communication studies or equivalent, and several years of experience in strategic and operational communication work in the public sector.
To succeed in your assignment, it is important that you identify with several of the following statements:
To function well in the role, you need to be collaborative, as the role involves many different contacts within your department and with other parts of the organization. You need to have integrity and the ability to navigate complex organizations, as well as be flexible and receptive to adapting your work as the business needs change. You will work independently with several parallel assignments; therefore, it is important that you are results-oriented and can create structure for your work and keep to set deadlines on your own.
