There is something special about Avesta! Here you will find not only Dalarna horses and roaring rapids. Here you also find will and courage, drive and faith in the future. It is the strength of the people that makes Avesta unique. Together we are building Avesta's future – do you want to be part of it?

Avesta Culture School offers education in music and aesthetic expression for children and young people throughout the municipality. We value both tradition and innovation and work actively to make culture accessible to more people.

The Culture School is part of the Education Administration, which is Avesta Municipality's largest administration with a broad range of activities. With us, everything from preschool, school, and adult education to culture, leisure, integration, and meal services is housed. We are approximately 1,000 employees and are responsible for operations of great significance for the municipality's development and future.

With us, you become part of an operation where collaboration and engagement are in focus. You will receive a varied and meaningful assignment with many points of contact.

1 position(s).

Do you want to work in a culture school where tradition and development go hand in hand?

Avesta Culture School is an engaged operation with music and theater in focus. We cherish what has shaped us – not least the strong tradition of wind music – while simultaneously creating space for new working methods, projects, and artistic expressions.

With us, tradition is combined with new thinking in teaching, concerts, and collaborations. We work closely with our students, in our premises, and out at schools in the municipality, and have an active exchange with neighboring municipalities that gives both students and educators larger contexts to develop in.

We are now looking for one to two music teachers who can teach at least one of the following subjects/instruments: transverse flute, saxophone, clarinet, percussion, or rhythmics. The positions are permanent, and the extent can be adapted based on your competence and what you yourself desire (approx. 50-100%).

Experience or competence in more subjects or artistic expressions is meritorious. You will become part of a cohesive work team where engagement is valued, and you will have the opportunity to influence both teaching and the content of the operation.

About the role

As a music teacher, you work with teaching, projects, and concerts in an operation where breadth and quality go hand in hand. The teaching takes place both in the culture school's premises and out at schools in the municipality.

You meet children and young people of different ages and contexts and are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on your teaching, which can consist of both individual lessons and group teaching as well as ensemble and orchestra activities. The teaching is adapted to the students' different interests and prerequisites, which means you need to be able to teach in different genres.

You participate in concerts, rehearsals, and projects and contribute to the development of the operation. The work involves close collaboration with colleagues within the culture school, primary school, and regionally. You participate in operational meetings and cooperation that develops the operation. You also have ongoing contact with students, guardians, and other collaboration partners.

The work also means that you move between different workplaces in the municipality, which requires a B-driver's license and access to your own car. You are an important representative and ambassador for the culture school. Evening and weekend work occurs, and classroom teaching may also occur.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who are an engaged and secure educator with a good understanding of how children and young people learn. You adapt your teaching to the student's needs and create an inspiring and inclusive learning environment.

You collaborate well with others, build trusting relationships, and are outgoing. You work systematically, take responsibility for your assignment, and thrive in an operation characterized by development and flexibility.

You have an interest in development and want to contribute to a broad and accessible culture school.

Formal qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • University education in music and pedagogy, or education and working life experience that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Ability to teach at least one of the following subjects/instruments: transverse flute, saxophone, clarinet, percussion, or rhythmics
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish as well as experience working with digital tools

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of teaching in a culture school
  • Experience of leading an ensemble or orchestra
  • Competence to teach several of the above instruments/subjects

We would also like you to:

  • Be able to teach additional subjects or artistic orientations

Selection and interviews take place continuously. Work samples may occur in the recruitment process.

Employment type: Permanent.
Duration: Permanent.
Start date: 2026-08-10 or according to agreement.
