About the position

We are now looking for an engaged teacher for teaching in grades 7–9 in music and preferably another subject. You will become part of a work team that actively works to develop both students and colleagues through participation in conferences and competence development. The school has six work teams and a student health service led by a student health manager. The work teams work closely with their students and are responsible for resources, premises, and scheduling. Each work team has a high staff density with a student assistant and a student coordinator attached to support the educators in their work.

Examples of tasks:

• Plan, conduct, and evaluate teaching in the subjects you are responsible for.
• Use methods and approaches that lead to the best possible goal achievement.
• Exercise mentorship/perform homeroom teacher duties.
• Work together with the work team and other staff at the school.
• Work and document in the operational systems available.

About the workplace

Gumaeliusskolan is a lower secondary school located centrally in the west. We currently have 720 students and profiles in football, ice hockey, dance, riding, gymnastics, training and health, floorball, and special sports. At Gumaeliusskolan, we have chosen to increase the number of adults around the students by having more teachers and more adults with competencies, such as student coordinators, special education teachers, and student assistants.

Qualifications

As a teacher, it is important that you have good cooperation skills where you listen and communicate and contribute to a calm and safe school environment. You should also have knowledge of children's development and learning, as well as the ability to adapt teaching based on the group and individual students' needs and prerequisites. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Teacher certification with eligibility to teach music and another subject for grades 7–9, or alternatively, a degree that qualifies for teacher certification.
