Open Preschool – A meeting place for children and families in Umeå

The Open Preschool is a meeting place for children and parents. Here, children and parents can socialize, make new contacts, and enjoy pleasant moments in a community setting. We employ pedagogically trained staff who are happy to listen and provide support with questions and reflections on parenthood.

We are part of the Social Services' First Line and Family Centers, with the mission to collaborate with other professions that encounter children and parents in the area, such as midwives, child health care nurses, and social secretaries. Our work is guided by a child's perspective, placing the child's best interests at the center. The Family Centers are operated in collaboration between the Social Services of Umeå Municipality and Primary Care of Region Västerbotten.

The Open Preschool aims to promote children's early language development and offers support to newly arrived families to integrate into Swedish society and the education system. In addition to the general opening hours of the Open Preschool, we are tasked with offering targeted interventions to families with indicated problems. This mission involves starting from the families' needs and coordinating interventions together with one or more actors, such as social secretaries, child health care psychologists, BVC nurses, and midwives. Some of the support measures are subject to means-testing and are followed up according to the Social Services Act.

Your Responsibilities

As a preschool teacher with us, you work independently to plan, implement, and develop the operations based on the needs of the families. You lead parent support programs and offer individual counseling and support measures to families regarding issues related to child development, relationships, and parenthood.

The position is distributed among several open preschools within Umeå Municipality, with at least two days at Sävar's Open Preschool.

About You

As a person, you are flexible and have the ability to adapt your working methods and approach based on the needs and situations of different families. You work independently, take initiative, and drive your work forward with responsibility and structure. Furthermore, you are relationship-building and have an easy time creating trusting encounters with both children and guardians. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Trained preschool teacher
• Has or has applied for teacher certification
• Experience from preschool operations
• B-driver's license and access to a personal car
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing
• Valid extract from the criminal record
