The Department of Culture and Media Studies is advertising a position as University Lecturer in Ethnology. The position is full-time, starting in January 2027 or as agreed.

Description of Duties

The duties include teaching in ethnology at undergraduate and advanced levels, educational administration, and professional development time equivalent to 20%. Teaching may include independent online courses in ethnology, campus-based teaching for independent courses and programs, English-taught courses for exchange students, and teaching within the core educational sciences of the Faculty of Education. In addition to individual and collegial work on course and program development, the role may also involve subject administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer, the candidate must demonstrate pedagogical skill and hold a PhD in ethnology, or have equivalent scientific competence or other professional expertise significant in view of the subject content and duties of the position. Eligible candidates also include those who have completed a PhD in a subject closely related to ethnology, provided they can demonstrate equivalent ethnological competencies.

Good proficiency in Swedish (or another Scandinavian language) and English, as well as the ability to teach in these languages, is a requirement for the position.
