In Skellefteå Municipality, we are now looking for dedicated mother tongue teachers who want to make a difference in the students' everyday lives. The position initially covers 50% and is a permanent employment, with the possibility of increasing the degree of employment.

YOUR ROLE

As a mother tongue teacher, you teach and support students in primary and upper secondary school, either in groups or individually. The teaching takes place primarily on-site at various school units around the municipality and is scheduled during daytime and sometimes evening hours. Remote teaching may occur in exceptional cases.

You work within the Competence Centre for Multilingualism unit, where mother tongue instruction is a natural part of the school's mission. In this role, you contribute to strengthening students' language development, subject knowledge, and self-esteem – while being an important part of the school's and municipality's work for equal education.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

You have Meänkieli as your mother tongue and command it effortlessly in both speech and writing. You also have good knowledge of the culture in the areas where the language is spoken.

You express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing and have good IT skills. Previous teaching experience is meritorious, as is teacher certification or other pedagogical education.

Since teachers of Meänkieli are in short supply, we can offer further education and support for competence development within the role.

As a person, you are engaged, creative, and have a genuine interest in working with children and young people. You easily create good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues, and you plan your work in an independent and structured manner. Collaboration is a natural part of your working style, and you actively contribute to the work team together with other mother tongue teachers.

For this position, you are required by law to present a current extract from the Swedish Police Authority's register prior to any employment. This applies to the extract "Work in school or preschool". You are responsible for ordering the correct extract via polisen.se.
