Job Description

The person we are looking for will conduct research and contribute to the further development of the research environment within physics, applied physics, computer science, chemistry, or educational science within one of these fields. The duties include developing pedagogical qualifications, which involve teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as supervising doctoral students and postdocs. The employee is expected to actively seek external funding for their research activities. The appointment is limited to 6 years, consisting of 75% independent research and 25% teaching. The position is a "tenure-track" role, which makes it possible to develop and establish long-term research. An Assistant Professor has the right, upon request, to be considered for promotion to Associate Professor.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as an Assistant Professor is someone who has completed a doctoral degree or has equivalent scientific competence. Preference should be given to those who have completed a doctoral degree or reached equivalent competence no more than seven years prior to the date of application for the position of Assistant Professor.

However, those who have completed a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances.

The doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence must be in physics, applied physics, computer science, chemistry, or educational science within one of these fields, and relevant to the receiving department at the faculty.

Good knowledge of English is required, both spoken and written.

Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation criteria for the appointment of an Assistant Professor shall be the degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility for the appointment.

In addition, the degree of pedagogical skill and other skills of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties involved in the appointment shall be taken into account.

Weighting of the Different Evaluation Criteria

In the selection of applicants for the position, the degree of scientific skill shall be decisive. In addition, the degree of pedagogical skill and other skills of significance with regard to the subject content of the appointment and the duties involved in the appointment shall be taken into account. The ability to develop and lead operations and personnel at the university, as well as the ability to collaborate and engage with the surrounding society and inform about research and development work, will be considered.
