Folkuniversitetet is looking for several course leaders for our open course offerings for autumn 2026 and spring 2027. We are primarily looking for you who can teach on-site in Umeå, but we also welcome applications from you who can work in other locations in Västerbotten.

In Umeå, we are primarily seeking course leaders in German, Spanish, and Chinese. We also welcome applications from you who can teach Korean, Sami, Somali, and other languages. In other locations in Västerbotten, we currently see the greatest need for Swedish as a second language and English, but other languages may also become relevant.

We prioritize applicants who can teach in Umeå. Recruitment to other locations is based on need, which means that applicants who can only work outside of Umeå may be contacted at a later stage. Please specify in your cover letter which languages you can teach and in which location(s) you can work.

We are looking for someone who

• has very good knowledge of the language you wish to teach, through native language and/or relevant education
• has pedagogical understanding and teaching experience
• has experience in adult education and an active interest in the field
• is flexible, structured, positive, and motivating
• can work on-site in the evenings and/or on weekends in Umeå or another location in Västerbotten

It is an advantage if you

• have teacher training in the language you wish to teach, or are currently training to become a teacher. This is particularly advantageous in Swedish as a second language and English, where we may have higher requirements for certain assignments
• are multilingual, as the target group is broad
• have good technical skills and experience in teaching online or to hybrid groups

As a teacher at Folkuniversitetet, you are expected to have the ability to tailor teaching to individuals and bring out each person's potential. It is important that you enjoy conveying knowledge and see the positive aspects of participants' development. You are flexible, receptive, and structured, and are accustomed to working independently. We also assume that you share our view on the equal value of people and their right to knowledge. Folkuniversitetet conducts active continuing education for its teachers.
