Obbola School is a grades F–9 school with 380 students. The school is located in a beautiful natural area with proximity to forests and the sea. The school has shown very good results over a number of years and works for safety and well-being, among other things through well-developed collaboration within the teaching team and cooperation with the student health team. We strive for a pedagogical holistic approach from preschool class to grade 9. Obbola School is one of Umeå Municipality's practice schools, which means that during the school year, we host teacher students for their practice-based education (VFU).

For the autumn term 2026, we are looking for an engaged and certified textile crafts teacher who wants to help develop our craft and textile education for students in grades 3–9!

Employment Information

The position is a permanent employment starting 2026-08-10. The position as a textile teacher covers 70%. For those qualified to teach other subjects at the lower secondary level, there is an opportunity for a position up to 100%.

Your Responsibilities

You will teach our students in grades 3–9 in textile crafts. As a textile teacher with us, you have overall responsibility for the textile crafts education from the early school years up to lower secondary school. You adapt your pedagogy to the students' age and maturity, and create a safe and inspiring environment in the craft room.

In collaboration with the teaching team and colleagues, you are responsible for driving and developing the pedagogical work with the curriculum and municipal goals as guidelines. Contact and cooperation with parents is an important part of the work.

About You

You are a clear leader in the classroom with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, structure, and context for all students. You are well-versed in the school's governing documents. You differentiate and vary the teaching based on the students' needs. You share your knowledge and experiences to contribute to collegial learning. An important part of the teacher role is to build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Requirements

• Trained textile crafts teacher.
• Has or has applied for teacher certification.
• Experience teaching textile crafts in primary school.
• Unrestricted proficiency in Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English.
• Valid extract from the criminal record.

Merits

• Qualification to teach other subjects in lower secondary school, preferably natural science subjects (biology, physics, chemistry) and/or Swedish for grades 7–9.
• Experience teaching other subjects.
